I recently watched "Morgan" at the cinema and especially enjoyed the initial two thirds of the film before it devolved into "nearly everyone is going to die now" action-type finish. Anya Taylor-Joy was good in the title role.

Yes, it's not surprising that Saoirse is starting to become a real role model among other young actresses. -

Although Joe and Jane Popcorn couldn't pick her out of a lineup, she's been a critics' darling since the beginning of her career, and those who love and follow film certainly know her quite well. In addition, it goes without saying she is highly regarded within the industry especially among her acting peers.

The Playlist named Saoirse's performance in
Atonement
as one of the best performances by a child actor of the 21st century so far:

I really don't get all the love for Saoirse's performance in 'Atonement' when she was so much better in a larger role in 'Death Defying Acts'. And yet no-one ever mentions that film or Saoirse's part in it!
And I think DDA was a much better film than 'Atonement' anyway. But it's like DDA was somehow never made while people go on and on about 'Atonement' which I thought was a pretty ordinary film. It's maddening!

There is nothing new here, just a summation of her story. Oh, and it's (Sir-sha), not (Seer-sha). What are you going to do?

I'm going to cut the Times some slack here. Seer-sha is how most Irish pronounce it (I even hear Sor-sha is acceptable.) Director Crowley kept calling her Seersha at the NYFF. I think we're going to hear a lot of "Seershas" in the coming weeks with all the Irish promotion.
BTW, I saw this article earlier and, though thrilled it was the NY Times, thought, damn, this should be in the Sunday Times, not the Thursday paper. But then I noticed the little addendum in small print the article will appear in print in Sunday's paper. All's right with the world. -

I like this snippet from Gold Derby's Thelma Adams article on Brie Larson (Gold Derby's present BA fav).
Oscar newbies might think Brie WHO? Shes nobody she cant possibly win. Not true. The Oscars have a long history of suddenly pointing the spotlight on a blossoming ingnue. Larson fits the bill although she may have competition in "Brooklyn"'s Saoirse Ronan. -

Thanks for that zorro. My guess is the films and performances are radically different, but what each actress accomplished can still reach a great level despite the said differences. I'll be watching this weekend for the results of Room's expansion to 20 markets because I have a suspicion that it might not play well when you are dealing with those individuals who don't normally attend film festivals. I just feel Brooklyn is a more viewer friendly film.
BTW, what is this Twitter chatter from Ireland concerning her accent? Are some people just jealous They should be proud of her instead of bitching about her accent whether Carlow or Dublin like.
