Look, the justice system in this country is crap, so NO she hasn't paid her debt to society, not really. She was given a crap sentence for a horrible crime. And guess what? She does owe society something, not just the family of the person she killed, we lock people up and keep them away from the rest of society because we have a country of laws. When one commits a crime, one disputs that order and disrupts society. THis is why we have come together to give the state the authority to arrest criminals. If it were just something done to the girl's family it would be a civil case, not a criminal one. A murderer is a danger to the society as a whole not just one person or family.
What should she do now? She should act on the Wire, or get a job at McDonald's or clean toilets. Hey, the system sucks, she got off easy she can't really ask for more time, and if I were her I would be happy to have gotten off that easy and would do my thing. Do I feel she should go back to a life of crime? Of course not, I just feel we should stop placing her on a pedestal for being on a TV show.
And what should we do with people after they get out? That's a big question. I have my own ideas. For murderers, rapists, child molesters and drug dealers they should be in jail for life. Not eating up my tax dollars and having a better basic cable package than my next-door neighbors while lifting weights on their off time. No! They should be given non paying jobs for the state, or city or whomever has them in their custody.
People who have committed lesser crimes, like fraud, theft (not aggravated) and other lesser crimes and non-violent crimes should be segregated from the regular prison population. If they have no skills they should be taught a skill while working to pay for their education. We segregate for two reasons, first so as not to educate low level criminals into being serious criminals, and two, so as to keep these less violent people from being harmed by animals.
Prison should always look to punish first, and rehabilitate later.

Snoops "spotlight" isn't all that bright. She's done a few spots on BET and the Wire, she's not even that great of an actress. As I said before, she's just playing herself. And I don't care whether you or anyone here loves her, I'm just stating that your admiration is misguided and misdirected at the wrong kind of person. Go on loving her if you wish, I just think it's morally obnoxious.

My god Trompos, you are a freaking idiot. You think drug dealers should be in jail for life? Your a little out of touch with reality. Like a previous poster said murderers are people too, it's not like they are some pure evil monster. They have feelings just like you. She was convicted of murder and did the time the state told her too, but apparently your Christian moral authority knows better than all of your judges and juries. This is why they separate church and state you people are crazy! Everyone knows Jesus was a gay man.

My opinions about sentences for drug dealers and murderers has little to do with my religious beliefs you moron. In fact Christian groups work hard to help prisoners make parole, there are many advocacy groups created for prisoners BY Christian groups, so you're stupid.
Murderers, that is to say people who have committed heinous crimes SHOULD be locked up for life because obviously they are not fit to live in normal society. Too many rapists and murderers become repeat offenders. Lets see how you feel about sentences for violent criminals when someone in your family is raped and murdered, we'll see how much sympathy you have for them. I will forget I'm a Christian that day just to laugh at your fate.
You're trying to sound like an intellectual by echoing stupid rehashed statements about seperation between Church and state in a conversation where it has ABSOLUTLY no place. At no time did I mention faith you concluded that my ideas come from some religious authority when there is no real modern position on criminal justice and sentencing in any Christian Church.
