Post her first album, Mutt Lange was her producer. I think that speaks volume.

Maybe you are right but you can't deny the fact that both "The Woman In Me" and "Come On Over" albums include some true country music!

          The Woman In Me album:
Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?
The Woman in Me (Needs the Man in You)
God Bless the Child (with Gospel elements)
Home Ain't where His Heart Is (Anymore)
          Come on Over:
          Honey, I'm Home
          Come On Over

Only one of those is remotely country and that is "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under". The rest are straight up pop.

Straight up pop? That's too much. I guess you have too many stereotypes about country music. Shania made this genre popular outside USA. Yes, she mixed it with pop and rock but it's still COUNTRY

Like actually knowing what country music is?
Shania made this genre popular outside USA.
Because what she did was pop but her producer and label called it country.

It was a Country/Pop music! Big difference. Anyway, this genre would be much less famous without Shania.

Garth Brooks, George Strait, and Kenny Rogers have more total sales. Also, George Strait did it without having to pander to pop fans. Again, I stand by my statement.

..but they are not international superstars. They didn't make this genre popular outside US or Canada. More than that, they are unknown in many parts of the world (unlike Shania!)

I would hardly expect traditional country artists to be huge international superstars. I like Carrie and couple other country pop artists. I like some of Shania songs. Shania made herself international superstar. I'm not bashing her at all. She had a little impact but not as much as others. Being international superstar and selling the most does not guarantee she is the most influential. Kitty Wells will always have the most impact. She paved the way for all solo country women. That effects all women in country who has solo career. Patsy Cline years after her death is still inspiring a lot of country singers to this day. Loretta, Meryl Haggard, George Straight and Johnny Cash are still being named as inspiration from country artists. Shania accomplished a lot in her career. That doesn't make it any greater than other artists in country. Country will always be American genre anyway. They don't need to be international.

Actually, one could argue Patsy Montana paved the way as she was the first female country singer to sell one million copies of a single.
