Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Jessie Cave

    ffnogoodnik — 17 years ago(June 28, 2008 02:00 PM)

she is Jessie Cave, an actress hired to portray Lavender Brown in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince film. I wish her all the luck in the world, not only with the role but with dealing with people who do not think she looks/acts/breathes or exists like THEY think Lavender should.

I thought of Lavendar as either tan with long brown hair, or African American personally.

Charlize Theron is technically an African American. Blows one's mind.

There are plenty of people of African descent in England. Watch any British soap and you'll see its true.
They have the best accent ever. _ ❤

Yes, but they are hardly African-
                  American
are they? A black person from England would be African-English, wouldn s/he?

I know many people thought of her as black, but personally I always thought of her as white with chestnut brown-y hair personally

Parvati is tanned.. The patil sisters had an indian heritage i think.
Lavendar to me was always stick thin, a really prissy type.
And her hair was never suppose to look like Hermiones in the earlier movies.. what the hell happened lol

Um you mean "Black British" although African-British would also be technically correct (if not the common term). In the earlier movies they had a Black British playing her (or what we thought was her) in a non-speaking cameo. I'm not sure why she became Anglo-British later on but I don't remember the book being that specific.

I thought she was white because there's a part in the 6th book where Harry sees Ron and Lavender kissing and it says that they're so intertwined that it's difficult to tell whose hands were whose which implies their hands were the same colour.

I think she'll be a good Lavender Brown, Only, I had imagined a brown haired girl instead of blonde But then again, Blonde and red hair go together doesn't it?

Funny, I always pictured her as black too. Maybe it's because her name is Lavender BROWNhehe I don't know, but I personally think that's the subconcious reason why I pictured her that way. 😛
