I agree that she does not look at all as how I pictured dear Lav-Lav, but I suppose she will become Lavender. She must have soemthing, or she wouldn't have beat out the thousands of girls who tried for the part.

She looks near EXACTLY how I imagined how! It's almost creepy how perfect she is. I think the only difference was that I imagined her hair to be a tiny bit lighter, but that's not even a big thing.
I'm impressed and excited about Jessie's casting. I can't wait to see her and Rupert together. (I'm a huge Ron/Lav shipper.) And hopefully, they'll be good fan videos post the movie, as well as extra footage with Jessie! -

There is no description whatsoever in any of the books of Laven5b4der's physical featuresnot hair colour, not eye colour, nor even skin colour (in fact, the original Lavender in the previous five movies was black).

The book never even descibes what she looks like physically. I didn't imagine her like this but I've heard people say they imagine her black or mexican but she really seems like a snob. Like someone who knows they look good type. In the muggle world she would be talking on her pink cell phone all the time and saying she doesn't know how she'd live with out it. She also would probably have a little dog in her purse. I think you get the type of person I'm getting at. That's the way Lavender is to me. I always pictured her with brown hair, but it never says what she looks like.
Anyways, I think the actress is really cute.

I always thought Lavender to look like this girlI wonder if people thought she would be black because one of the twins went to the Yule Ball with Angelina whose black, and Ron went with Padma because she's Indian?

Yeah, I pictured her black, too.
but, now that she's cast as white, I think it's fine. I don't like Lavender anyway, so it doesn't matter to me what she looks like, but the "preppy rich girl" look fits in my opinion.
I believe Jennifer Smith, the girl who played a non-speaking Lavender in PoA, was black. I went on her IMDB page & people were defending her b/c people were complaining that Lav. was supposed to be white and that Rowling herself said that Lavender was the "same skin tone' as Ron, so I guess that's why they got a white chick?
I hope they didn't recast JUST based on race. Isn't that grounds for a lawsuit? At least in America it would be.
If I said you had a nice body, would you hold it against me? -

Oh my gosh, felt exactly the same way. I always, ALWAYS, ALWAAAAAAAAAAAYS pictured Lav Lav as being 'of color'from the very beginning. And she WAS black in PoA. That would be really horrible if they cast a white girl because they didnt want a black girl having such a prominent role or something. I would really, really hate to believe that. I hope thats not the case. But it kinda seems like it is.

that's actually not true. racial dicrimination is illegal. but not in stage and screen acting. for instance if you've seen the movie or musical Hairspray you would know that there is no way a black girl could play that role since one of the major parts of that movie is that she is a white girl in a society that is differen. if she was black she would not be able to bridge the gap between the two races.
