I always thought Lavender to look like this girlI wonder if people thought she would be black because one of the twins went to the Yule Ball with Angelina whose black, and Ron went with Padma because she's Indian?

Yeah, I pictured her black, too.
but, now that she's cast as white, I think it's fine. I don't like Lavender anyway, so it doesn't matter to me what she looks like, but the "preppy rich girl" look fits in my opinion.
I believe Jennifer Smith, the girl who played a non-speaking Lavender in PoA, was black. I went on her IMDB page & people were defending her b/c people were complaining that Lav. was supposed to be white and that Rowling herself said that Lavender was the "same skin tone' as Ron, so I guess that's why they got a white chick?
I hope they didn't recast JUST based on race. Isn't that grounds for a lawsuit? At least in America it would be.
If I said you had a nice body, would you hold it against me? -

Oh my gosh, felt exactly the same way. I always, ALWAYS, ALWAAAAAAAAAAAYS pictured Lav Lav as being 'of color'from the very beginning. And she WAS black in PoA. That would be really horrible if they cast a white girl because they didnt want a black girl having such a prominent role or something. I would really, really hate to believe that. I hope thats not the case. But it kinda seems like it is.

that's actually not true. racial dicrimination is illegal. but not in stage and screen acting. for instance if you've seen the movie or musical Hairspray you would know that there is no way a black girl could play that role since one of the major parts of that movie is that she is a white girl in a society that is differen. if she was black she would not be able to bridge the gap between the two races.

It's interesting that so many people imagined her as Black. I guess i'm stereotypical in that i imagined her as blonde because she comes off as being a ditzy type to me and i associate those types with blondes lol.
That being said, i think Jessie will make a great Lavender. -

Wow, that was incredibly offensive Paris. You know hair color has NOTHING to do with personality. It's just a physical appearance. ANYONE can be ditzy or smart, no matter the hair color, or skin color for that matter.

im sorry, but not everyone can be happy with an actresses appearance. No one in the world pictured lavender the same when they visualized her while reading, so not eveyone can be pleased with the appearance of her on screen. Even if the casting director found someone 17, and had the exact same features of the lavender that i visualized, i would not want them to cast her if she could not act.
