It should also be noted that JK Rowling is very well known for noting when a person is of a different race: Dean Thomas, Angelina Johnson, Parvati and Padma Patil, Lee Jordan, etc. If Lavender was African (African-British?) then JK probably would've mentioned it. And as much as it is probably a bit of an exaggeration, if JK had Lavender as African-whatever, then the line about Harry not being able to tell whose was whose (or whatever it was) would have been omitted.

"I could of auditioned if she wasn't." Speaking of following something, follow the English languageit should be could have not could of. Doubtful that you'd have passed muster, if that's any indication of your language skills.

No I have no idea why so many people think that Lavender is supposed to be black. If you remember in Half Blood Prince, at one point when Ron and Lavender are making out (I'm sorry, I think "snogging" is too ridiculous to say), it says something like "they were wrapped so tightly around each other that you couldn't tell whose hands belonged to who" if Lavender was black then it would be pretty easy to tell which hands belonged to which person.

i think your insinuating that she is black because of her last name "brown"
Just kidding (did anyone get the office reference?)
I always imagined her white though

I always imagined her black, but I think that may be because of Matilda
                  http://www.imdb.com/board/10117008/
Matilda's friend was a girl named Lavender (and I guess her name is actually Lavender Brown in the book), and she was played by a black girl.
I guess I imagined the Harry Potter Lavender Brown as an older Matilda Lavender Brown.
Shame they didn't keep the girl formerly cast as Lavender

I'm fairly certain that everyone thinks she's black because she was played by a black actress in Prisoner of Azkaban (Jennifer Smith). I'm not sure about you, but despite her non-speaking role, after reading the book and then watching the movie it was pretty obvious that she was Lavender.

Yes, that's right, but she doesn't offer any information about the Patils IN the books. We know it because of their names and complementary information.
I'm the book they never say she is black. She is described as "very plain with brown hair"
No, they never say she's black, but that thing about "very plain with brown hair" is even more false. So you can remove the quotation marks or Rowling will sue you.

The only characters in the books described as being black are Angelina Johnson, Dean Thomas, and Blaise Zabini. Lavender Brown is most definitely never described as being black and with the whole snogging with Ron scene, it is clear she is white. However, she was "played" by a black actress in the third movie just for the heck of it. The only other black characters as Lee Jordan and Alicia Spinnet, although I don't believe either of them were actually described as black in the books but since they are in the movies and their is not contradiction otherwise, the probably are.

Lee is described as black, well they say he has dreads so i guess it's assumed.
Also, Kingsley Shacklebolt is described as being black.

I never remember Dean Thomas being described as black, but as a boy with "sandy coloured hair".

I wanted a cheerleader type girl. Thats really smiley and crazy. Kinda like a gets everything she wants. I was a little sad by Jessi cause she made the character ridda0iculous. She didn't seem sneaky at all. Or semi obnoxious. Just a loud silly weird girl. Kinda like a mix of Hermione and Luna.

                                    1. No, the book does not say so.
                                    2. Assuming you are female and British, I'm fairly certain you could've auditioned regardless of your race.
                                    3. Seeing as the race of Lavendar Brown has absolutely no affect whatsoever on the plotlines of the HP stories (books or movies), does it really make a difference?
