Who wants realism? Liz and Dick's drunken brawl is hilarious.
Have you ever seen a sexier boozier MILF?

This movie is more realistic and more importantly, much better -

But I haven't seen a sexier boozier MILF… She made some off-beat movies like "Secret Ceremony" and one from the early 70s with a see-through outfit that was really sexy.

I love Elizabeth Taylor. She's easily my favorite actress.
        Here's cuts from both films:
"Le Chat" is very atmospheric. But then again it's French.

She's not MY favorite actress, but she definitely has presence. A year ago or so, I watched a handful of her (unconventional) movies.
I think the most talented actress is Gena Rowlands.

I loved Gena Rowlands in "Gloria". Yeah.
Maybe it's because I'm queer but Elizabeth Taylor is not only a great actress, she has that overwhelming persona. She makes the character interesting regardless of the role.
I can't for the hell of me think of the name of the film, but it had Elizabeth Taylor and Carolyn Jones. And Jones played some strange beatnik chick.

"Imitation of Life" was a great Lana Turner film.
Meh I forgot Sandra Dee was in it. Lol.

In "Gloria", she's more of a tough cookie. That movie was actually made to sell, no one took it, so Cassavetes ended up making it. The little boy was annoying.
I love her performance in "A Woman Under the Influence" and for me, it's the best performance I've seen in a movie.
Elizabeth Taylor definitely had persona. She had "it". I think a lot of it is the face.

I liked the "Gloria" role because she was tough, a former gangster's moll.
Taylor is beautiful but she does a perfect "bitch" as well.

She does, and so did "Gloria". Rowlands never attracted me sexually, but there was something about Liz, especially her eyes.
Susan Hayward, too. She was pretty, too. Not that glamorous kinda ****. I don't think I know the names of the prettiest actresses I've seen. Many were in foreign movies from Europe and some weren't the leading ladies.
Anna Magnani was another one. She had the entire package. And she was tougher than all the aforementioned.

I hope one day they redo some of these classics. I don't want an overhaul of the script, just the acting. The scripts were always great, it's just that in those days they hadn't really recognized that stage and screen require different acting techniques.

I just read Mike Nichols biography. Virginia Woolf is in my Top 10! Then he did The Graduate. After that it was all downhill for him.
