    Snsurone, likewise.
I rarely post on OT "political threads" and call-out threads. This is the Classic Film Board and I have been a film buff since I was a kid, a long time ago, and I am especially interested in classic films, that's why I come here. To learn, to teach whatever I can and to have a good time with my fellow posters, some of whom I really like.
I am not a 'Redgravist', I just like her as an actress and respect her (besides, she was born in Greenwich, 0º00'00", the Prime Meridian, and for me that's meaningful for several reasons, including professional ones), but I like other actresses as well. It's just that you and that crazy teen went too far and I reacted. And your reactions to my reaction went too far as well. But look, I am not a self-righteous Savonarola and I don't want to become one, so
In the future, I'll say nothing about her, OK?
Say whatever you like. Besides, I keep trying to learn from Rick Blaine in Casablanca and would like to say
I stick my neck out for nobody
, instead of being a stupid romantic or Don Quixote.
I really hope that you are wrong and "Henery" is not a Jew, because my opinion of Jews is pretty good (thanks mainly to some people I mettwo of them among my best friendsplus Hannah Arendt, Aaron Copland, Gustav Mahler, Woody Allen, Bernard Herrmann, Billy Wilder, Jerome Moross, and a very, very, very long list), and he is one of the most miserable and pathetic persons I have ever seen on a message board, and I have seen a few. But it's his lack of
    empathy
, something so precious, and so important for me, that I find particularly despicable.
By the way, read this post:

Today, December 9, 2016, he turns 100, though in his autobiography,
    The Ragman's Son
he explains why they always celebrated it on the 14th.
His parents, Herschel (later Harry) and Bryna (later Bertha, though he recovered her old first name for his production company) Danielovitch would have been so happy had they known that their beloved son Issur (later Izzy, later Kirk) would become so famous, would have a famous son and would eventually become a centenarian!!
And since he is an Amsterdamer, a native, I propose a toast:

Issur Danielovitch Demsky: mazel tov! hurrah!
    hurrah!!

A typical comment of a Nazi or an anti-Semite, ain't it?

      Y'know what's funny?
Kirk Douglas was never one of my favorite actors.
IMO, he tended to grit his teeth too much and chew up the scenery.
But he is a good person, and I'm happy for his 100th birthday.
That's the polar opposite of how I feel about Redgrave.
She may be a fine actress (taste is subjective), but I don't find her a good person at all.
And as I said earlier, she just pushes my buttons, with the result that I speak my opinion sometimes without tact.
But I suppose that's part of being human.
I believe that humanity trumps talent.

No, not really, I take for granted that you don't like or dislike actors and other people simply because they are Jews or Gentiles. Neither do I.
I am not a Kirk Douglas "fan" (in fact I am not anyone's "fan", I just have favourites, that's all).
As an actor, I like him very much. He has
        pathos
, but he is not sympathetic. Many of his characters are unhappy, frustrated or antipathetic.
        This film is particularly intereresting:
        The Juggler (1953)
A German Jew, a traumatised survivor of the Holocaust, who emigrates to Israel. Filmed on location in Israel, that heroic Israel of 1953. If you haven't seen it, try to get it.
Another problem: he isor wasembittered because he felt he didn' t get what he deserved because he was a Jew. He was nominated for three Oscars but was awarded none (he was awarded other prizes though, and an honorary Oscar as late as 1996). One of them was
        Lust for Life
, and in my opinion he deserved the Oscar for his brilliant, superb and intense (his pathos again) role as Vincent Van Gogh.
I speak my opinion sometimes without tact.
Well, so do I, but I try to have more tact, mostly out of respect and courtesy. But basically I am an ouspoken and straightforward person. In my real life as well, and that cost me jobs, money, friends and even relatives.

Did Kirk Douglas really believe that he was denied an Oscar because of his religion?
          That's pretty hard to believe.
LUST FOR LIFE was one of the few Douglas movies I really liked.
He really looked like Vincent Van Gogh.
And Anthony Quinn deserved his Oscar for his portrayal of Paul Gaugin.
Let's not forget that Kirk did receive an honorary Oscar (I forget the year).
I remember seeing that event, with his sons giving him a standing ovation, tears streaming from Michael's eyes.
If nothing else, Kirk was a wonderful husband to Anne and an excellent father to his four boys, even if Eric died of a drug overdose.
But by then, Eric was an adult and responsible for his own actions.

Did Kirk Douglas really believe that he was denied an Oscar because of his religion?
            That's pretty hard to believe.
            My words were:
Another problem: he isor wasembittered because he felt he didn' t get what he deserved because he was a Jew.
I didn't refer specifically to the Oscars. And "denied" is not the correct way of putting it, it was more subtle.
I think I read it in his first (autobiographical) book, 'The Ragman's Son' (1988) or maybe somewhere else. There could be some mention of this here:
            http://www.interfaithfamily.com/arts_and_entertainment/popular_culture/An_Interview_with_Kirk_Douglas.shtml
But I am not going to read the whole long article right now just to look for it.
Anyway, it wouldn't be so surprising:
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antisemitism_in_the_United_States
            https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_antisemitism_in_the_United_States
And bear in mind that we are talking about the 1940s and 1950s! There were even films about this, like Edward Dmytryk's
            Crossfire
(1947), with Robert Ryan playing the role of an anti-Semite full of hate that kills a Jew.
I didn't forget his Honorary Award (technically not an Oscar) in 1996, I actually edited my post an hour later to include it, but I referred to the normal Oscars (1949, 1952 and 1956). The Honorary Award arrived forty years later, when he was 80 years old.
I too saw the ceremony live: very moving.

Anyway, he wasn't a man who lacked honors and awards in his long life. Take a look:
Douglas has been honored by governments and organizations of various countries, including France, Italy, Portugal, Israel, and Germany.
In 1981, Douglas received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from Jimmy Carter,

In 1994, Douglas' accomplishments in the performing arts were celebrated in Washington, D.C., where he among the recipients of the annual Kennedy Center Honors.

In 1983, Douglas received the S. Roger Horchow Award for Greatest Public Service by a Private Citizen, an award given out annually by Jefferson Awards. In 1996, Douglas received an Honorary Academy Award for "50 years as a moral and creative force in the motion picture community." The award was presented by producer/director Steven Spielberg.
As a result of Douglas's stroke the previous summer, however, in which he lost most of his speaking ability, his close friends and family were concerned about whether he should try to speak, or what he should say. Both his son, Michael, and his long-time friend, Jack Valenti, urged him to only say "Thank you", and leave the stage. Douglas agreed. But when standing in front of the audience, he had second th

If it talks like a nazi, if it walks like a nazi, it must be derWreck. My account has never been closed by anyone but me. Before closing my previous account I sent a real time FG post explaining the situation. If anyone studies the continuation of these posts they will find the disturbingly fixated baiting orchestrated by you, during the days and weeks, and the short but effective rebuttals by me (in which I totally expose and rebuke your folly). You're actually lucky in having chosen me as your target, as I'm a forgiving soul with no malice in my heart. Someone else might, after being provoked so much, put you in lot of hot water, even in a legal sense. So go ahead and write that letter. I hope that phrasing it takes so much time that you will troll this site less.
Like I said, you should have just let it be.

As for the beginning of your post: no comment. I won't fall into the trap you have set.
You're actually lucky in having chosen me as your target
Someone else might, after being provoked so much, put you in lot of hot water, even in a legal sense
as I'm a forgiving soul with no malice in my heart
                (
                )
Like I said, you should have just let it be.
"Henrey", boy, please understand this: you are NOT the Talented Mr. Ripley and you are NOT Don Vito Corleone.
You are just a delusional, pathetic teen or someone with the mental age of a some teens (not all, of course: there are fine teenagers).
"Legal sense"? Do you even realise what you are calling me and what you are saying about me here and there? Well, my lawyer happens to be my best friend as well and he has to go to L.A. sometimes. Seattle is not SO far. I can ask him if you want.
"Chosen"? "Target"?You have seen too many movies, Enriquito. So have I. And by the way, I repeat: last year I took a voluntary (voluntary, not like yours) sabbatical holiday of nine months: how could I possibly survive without you? Without "targets". Because if you are suggesting that I have a crush on you, I have to inform you that I amand have always beenheterosexual. Sorry. What about you?
Why do you choose ME as a target " Why not Amyghost, Jefferson Cody and the others? Some call you "Henrey", others "Henery" Why?
By the way, you don't have a single friend here, not one, unless they are invisible, of course. You tried to involve Byrdz and as far as I know he didn't even reply (if someone comes now and they registered very recently or have no posting history I'll have to think that they are socks).
An opinion: you smack of resentfulness. Social, racial, personal, professional, I don't know and I don't care.
And you ARE a stalker. This is not an opinion, it's a fact:

And finally, if you dislike me so much or are so afraid of me and my opinions, WHY don't you put me in your Ignore List?

Doesn't really matter. Once you start writing dreck like this on a public messaging forum:
My negotiation position remains the same: if he keeps baiting and baiting and baiting, I will probably give him another mental ass kicking (is he a masochist?) If he stops calling me out, I will definitely ignore him. As simple as that. (From a 'Henrey' post)
you've pretty much surrendered any and all claim to any credibility you might have ever had.
Whatever else he is he's a blowhard, and blowhards age quickly.

Another characteristic of his peculiar idiosyncrasy: he is a copycat and uses the same words and arguments the other person uses against him:
if he keeps baiting and baiting and baiting,
For I have been calling him baiter (which he is) since this absurd "conversation" began.
Another one: he thinks he's much stronger than he actually is:
I will probably give him another mental ass kicking (is he a masochist?)
Which is another typical characteristic of immature teens.
                    Key word: delusional.

It looks as though you called it back on Jan. 19th.
I am assuming that the events that have led to there being so many off-topic political posts led to this. There is only so much space available to store the messages.
Maybe with Amazon being the owners of IMDb, they could give message board use to Prime Members.
All the world is a stage and most of us are desperately unrehearsed.
