It's words of wisdom from me:
flaiky and gromit82 have already offered, so it might as well be passed to them. I don't mind running at least one poll and others might come forward if we ask for more volunteers.
According to OldAle1, 1966 was the last year that hadn't been polled before (apart from 2005 onwards) and he was going to move onto years that you or zolaaar had done before: http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000010/nest/254764355?p=7&d=254915294
If gromit82 has the results of previous polls he should be able to tell us what years have been polled recently. -

Ah that would be great if you could chip in with the odd poll.
Personally I don't think it would be a problem if the host changed quite regularly, so long as the methodology is the same
Right, so Ale was already starting a new cycle? Okay then. I guess that makes it easier. We can just pick a year from rotating decades, for variety, e.g:
A 1930s poll
A 1970s poll
A 1940s poll
A 1980s poll
A 2000s poll
A 1950s poll
A 1920s poll
A 2010s poll
A 1900-10s poll (probably merging years? Or skip this?)
A 1990s poll
A 1960s poll
..Trying to make sure we start with years not done in a long time (collectively, we should be able to remember if something was too recent?)
I'll be waiting, with a gun and a pack of sandwiches. -

I don't think different people running it is a problem either, as long as everything's counted the same way. We can make a virtue of it, since if one person can't do the poll for whatever reason, one of the others can take over.
Gromit mentioned keeping results for polls going back to when Lechuguilla was running them, so I was hoping he would be able to tell us what's been covered recently.
I think these years have been done since the end of 2014:
1928
1934
1949
1959
1965
1966
1975
1984
1990
1999
2000
2004
There was also a combined silent one, something like 1915-26, but I can't remember the exact years. There's a long period of c.1935-48 that's not been done recently, so that seems like a good place to start, unless we do 1932 and 2005 as OldAle planned.
I hesitate to mention this because it's more work and would probably mean a second person to do the votes, but something I think would add to the polls would be an acting category. I would be inclined to simplify it and put actors/actresses/leading/supporting together and then split male/female at the results stage. It depends how much interest there would be in this and it might mean dropping some other elements from the results presentation. -

I've been here about 4 years and I think we did 1947 and 1962 in that time [?].
I enjoy the polls especially when I find movies I was unaware of. Thanks in advance to whomever continues running them.

OldAussie: We did 1962 back in the Lechuguilla era, around July 2011. You did participate in that poll.
1947 is one of the years I can't find. I have a posting where Lech mentions it as one of the years we hadn't done yet, but I don't have the results for that year, which most likely means that OldAle conducted the poll but I didn't save the results. -

Farne's list of the polls we have done since the end of 2014 is correct, except that we did 1990 around November 2014. (I have the results threads but not the original poll threads, so I can tell you when the results came out but not the exact dates that the polls were conducted.)
The most recent combined-year silent era poll we did was for 1915-1919, around May 2015. And we also did a Science Fiction genre poll around April of this year.
I personally would not be interested in conducting an acting category as part of the year-by-year polls. If other people want to conduct such polls separately, that's fine with me, but it's not my personal preference.
As I've stated below, though, all of this is pending OldAle's return to posting and awaits his decision as to what he plans to do. -

Just one thought to suggest - when we renew the cycle expand forwards to include the years which were too recent to qualify last time around..
If they organise the revolution like they did this meeting, what'll happen? -

Thank You Thank You Thank You !
I don't have the time or indeed the database skills to help out but I promise to include lots of obscure Eurotrash in my ballots
and I'm sure someone will assist

Good news, OldAle is alive!
He responded to my PM from earlier today. He's undecided yet whether he wants to continue the polls, but said he'll "probably start posting again, whether or not I want to do the polls, and so I'll think about it this afternoon while out and about, and get back to you in a little while." Good stuff.
I'll be waiting, with a gun and a pack of sandwiches. -

It's nice of you and some others here to want to take over hosting the polls. I'd offer, but I have zero patience for this sort of thing and besides, I'm on too many ignore listsha ha.
I sure hope that Ale comes back. His work with the polls is much appreciated. I've always been grateful to those who take the time to run polls, quizzes, etc. It takes a lot of work and it's all voluntary.
As for the years, maybe try doing years which were covered several years ago. The results might be different this time around, with different people responding and all that.
Good luck!Jim Hutton (1934-79) & Ellery Queen = -

I hope he isn't behaving like a sissy-pansy because of what happened that time a couple of months ago..Jim Hutton (1934-79) & Ellery Queen = Here's the thread, in case you try another one of your "I wasn't talking about him" dodges (note that your post was self-deleted shortly after Clore called you on it): http://www.imdb.com/board/bd0000010/thread/260953156?d=261394273#261394273 Hypocrite and homophobe to boot. 50 Is The New Cutoff Age.
