Period pieces aren't normally my cup of tea, but Downton Abbey has some really interesting well drawn characters that's been keeping me hooked. Of course theres the well know cast regulars (Maggie, Jim etc.) but it's the quirky appeal of Laura's Lady Edith that I've really warmed to; Loving the banter/contention between Edith and her older sister, possibly because i'm the youngest of three myself, she is definitely one of the main highlights of the series for me.
Looking forward to seeing more of her work.

Laura is really really good, and looks so familiar I'm shocked this is her first screen role! Remarkable!
Plus she looks so very Victorian that heart-shaped face and all, the slightly receding chin. She could have stepped from the pages of a Dickens novel, etc.
(Yes, I know this is an Edwardian piece so don't ding me.)

would agree , it's hard to believe this is her first film role.
playing an unsympathetic character is harder than one everyone loves. you feel her heart ache, but also anger at her actions.
look forward to her continuing as Lady Edith in the future. -

I didn't like Lady Edith at first but as the series has gone along, I started to think that she was a neat person.
Laura Carmichael gives her role just the right touch and shows how Lady Edith is evolving as a person and is coming into her own.
Great work, Laura!
