would agree , it's hard to believe this is her first film role.
playing an unsympathetic character is harder than one everyone loves. you feel her heart ache, but also anger at her actions.
look forward to her continuing as Lady Edith in the future.

She and Michelle are terrific as Edith and Mary! I just adore their scenes! I can't wait to see her in the second season of 'Downton Abbey' and in 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy'!

She's very good, but I cannot stand her character. Too whiney.

Same! I prefer her to the other two sisters.
Subtitles misread: 'the Arch bitch of Canterbury'

I didn't like Lady Edith at first but as the series has gone along, I started to think that she was a neat person.
Laura Carmichael gives her role just the right touch and shows how Lady Edith is evolving as a person and is coming into her own.
            Great work, Laura!

Gaaah. As of Season Three, Episode 2, who doesn't want to poison Sir Anthony Strallan?! Edith, dear, pick up the pieces and carry on!

Love Lady Edith; so sorry the writer decided to dump on her

yes! He should've let Edith and Sir Anthony marry, have a baby son, then let him die from some old war injury. She would've been better off than Mary for a while at least.
