Hey Zolo,
I admit to not seeing many biopics. Probably I should take recommendations and watch a few. Of those that I have seen I have liked the following:- Lawrence of Arabia (1962) [Remarkable movie and a must watch for anyone]
- Braveheart (1995) [The movie is not based on real history but is still a great movie]
- Patton (1970) [George C Scott was phenomenal]
- The Elephant Man (1980) (makes you sad but is a quality thing)
- The Passion of Joan of Arc

Haven't seen
The Passion of Joan of Arc
but have heard great things about it. It's a silent, too, which is a genre I actually still like.
Another religious-themed biopic film you might want to watch is
The Nun's Story
(1959), with Audrey Hepburn. It's based on the story of a real-life nun (Marie-Louise Habets). Very well-done picture. -

You really should check out The Passion. It's the best. and most moving silent film ever made, imho. The soundtrack is also excellent. I have the CD.

The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) by Carl Theodor Dreyer is one of the best silent movies ever made. Along with Ordet and Day of Wrath (1943), The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928) is among the best religious themed movie ever made.
You could also watch Joan of Arc (1948)for which Ingrid Bergman won an Oscar but it is not as good as The Passion of Joan of Arc (1928)

A great list! I've seen all of these, and they are all excellent! The Passion of Joan of Arc is quite possibly the finest silent film ever made imho.

These are both by Peter Watkins. The Freethinker is about playwright/crazy man August Strindberg.
–Isadora Duncan, the Biggest Dancer in the World
–Dante's Inferno
–Always on Sunday
–The Debussy Film
These four are by Ken Russell and were made for television in the 60s. Dante's Inferno is about the painter Dante Gabriel Rossetti; Always on Sunday is about the painter Henri Rousseau.
–Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985)
–Andrei Rublev (1966)
It is questionable how much Andrei Rublev can be considered a biopic when the details his life are almost completely unknown. But it is still a good movie.

Edvard Munch! Wow! It's rated 8.4 on IMDB, and directed by Peter Watkings, one of my favorite directors. I'm going to put that on my to see list. Thanks for the heads up, Marcello!

I will see Song of Bernadette soon. I have it but have not seen it in spite of planning to watch it for years.
