I thought Parting Glances was a very good film. I also thought An Early Frost was fantastic. However for me Longtime Companion addressed the issue the most accurately, and how it affected all their friends, both gay and straight around them.

I really enjoyed the film. Has anyone else seen it?
I've seen it many years ago on cable, actually a couple of times, I think. I remember Ann-Margret mostly, because she gave a great performance and for that platinum blonde wig that looked fabulous on her. Wish I had taped it back then.

Longtime Companion is my favourite American movie on the theme, but the best - by far - is André Téchiné's Les Témoins/The Witnesses (2007), a superb ensemble drama and a contender for best French film of the 2000s.

"Buddies." It was the first indie film to deal with the subject of AIDS back in the mid-1980's. It's a very poignant and unjustly overlooked film.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
