So, what explains the fact that there has been no biopics of any Military personnel hailing from India ever?
I do remember that there was one series in the 90s (much before Kargil) about Param Veer Chakra awardees. But that was it.
Anyway, cricketers do perform a great social service to the countless unemployed individuals of this country. They do enable to maintain the social fabric and status quo in this country.
Without the sport, there would be many more incidents like Fort Oasis.

Gambhir can outbat Rohit Sharma and Dhawan with his right hand for heaven sake. He is a better player of fast bowling than both of them and while Vijay and Rahul have done well I think Gambhir and Vijay should open with Rahul at 3. Gambhir was incredibly consistent during his peak more than any of these players. Yuvraj even anoited him Sir for this reason. Had it not been for Dhoni and his influence on Kohli Gambhir would be in the test team atleast.
He was no flat track bully certainly not as much as half the team right now.
Had he not injured himself and lost form after World Cup for a brief period (the time when I think he should have been dropped briefly), he would have been the rightful captain of India. He and Sehwag are the link between the Fab 4 generation and the younger post Dhoni crowd. I am not a fanboy so a bad player I wont want to see play due to past laurels.
I wont say the same for Harbhajan, Zaheer or Sehwag all of whom were no more of international calibre. Yuvraj has some value (not a whole lot) in T20 and ODI's. Harbhajan being a spinner can still keep fitness so has a chance to come back (though not yet good enough). but of that lot Gambhir is the only case where he has something still left in the tank to offer.

i remember gambhir scored three 50s in 4 innings during the 2011 tour of south africa. one of them a match saving one.
but frankly, his performances when england toured india and then india toured england were pretty pathetic. he did hit a real rough patch. hope he still has it in him.

You should name him The Sulking Jat.

I totally forgot the test starts today. 24 off just 21. God bless gambhir to secure his place in the team. A good start for him.

gambhir throws it away after reaching 50. he should have converted this into a hundred. anyway he might have done enough to be kept in the team for another series.
