Hey guys. What are yer favorite 5 or so albums from 1966?

I think his best album is Highway 61 but Blonde on Blonde may have more high points on it overall - it's really close between those two.
I sort of feel about Blonde on Blonde how I feel about Revolver:
In the case of both artists, my favorite album by them is the one that came before because both Revolver and Blonde on Blonde have an element to them that is almost like showing off. It's hard to explain but the albums they made before sounded organic and naturally flowing, whereas each of their '66 albums sound like a game of "watch us top ourselves".
The fact that in some ways they actually both did top themselves and not fail spectacularly is kind of amazing. -

Yeah. I know what you mean.
To the audience it might sound like showing off.
I think for the artists it is simply reaching an artistic pinnacle - a place of maximum creativity where everything works.
It's good to be Dylan or The Beatles in '65-'66 -

Hey man.
I'm sure you're already familiar with The Seeds' two big singles, "Pushin' Too Hard" and "Can't Seem To Make You Mine". They're great singles, of course, but the albums are definitely worth checking out. My favorite 60s garage bands are the Elevators, Seeds and Standells. early Stones, too, if they count as "garage rock". -

I did not think about that Bobby Darin album although I am fan.
(He is one of those artists I mentally place in the "singles" category - whether fairly or not.)
Will give a listen . . .
Actually, I think Cat's album is '67.
Great list as always. (I was wondering if you were going with Dylan or Beatles for the #1 spot.)
