Is Taylor Swift the lamest popstar to make it as big as she has?

I just hate the fact she is associated with country music - In Pop music, I have seen her kind before, the 80's was Debbie Gibson & in the 90's was Britney Spears.
I Love Debi Sue Voorhees

I never understood the popularity of Madonna. She isn't a singer. She is singer/dancer/actress. Or maybe she is just a celebrity. She was absolutely huge for a few years in the '80s. Then her sales slowed down. But the media stayed obsessed with her even after most of the public stopped caring. Early in their careers Madonna was compared to Cyndi Lauper. I thought Lauper was much more talented.

Calling me an idiot doesn't support your argument
I will instead provide proof for her abilities:
That is only her middle register, no highest nor low notes in this.. breath support is good, decent enunciation and resonance in her vocals.. sings on pitch, has nasality but that is part of her style which is acceptable.. overall that's a good voice that becomes great once you factor in the extreme parts of her voice like her low register.
Regarding her talent, she plays piano and guitar at least in a basic but decent level and composes and writes most of her songs.. she never lip-syncs nor hides behind backing vocals.. I don't see how that's being untalented. -

I give Taylor Swift quite a bit of credit. Her vocal range may not be the greatest, but her songwriting is respectable, especially considering she first got famous in her teens, whereas many pop singers getting famous at that age don't write their own songs at all, let alone write anything as memorable as "Teardrops on My Guitar" or "Love Story".
I think she easily has more overall talent than Britney, although Britney has a few good songs, and even Madonna (who has a good number of good songs, but I'm not sure how much credit
she
deserves for them.) I also think she has far more good songs than Miley Cyrus, although Miley has more vocal skill. I'm not sure if Katy Perry has ever been as "big" as Taylor, but Taylor tops her in every way. -

I don't care about the baggage around her, but (like Britney) she has made two or three great pop singles in my opinion and for those I'd rate her higher than the whole career of pop stars like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Bruno Mars or post Thriller Michael Jackson.

Most artists have their flaws, she has many but at least she is a legit musician who plays instruments, writes her songs and at least attempts to sing live(she's off-key and off-breath but at least the audience can hear her voice unlike Gomez)..
Also not all musicians have to write complex music, take Dolly Parton as an example.. she's a legend of country music and most of her songs have very "basic" melodies/harmonies(and she says that herself) which isn't wrong.. simple is better sometimes.
But to answer your question.. no, she isn't.. the lamest female popstar is Britney Spears without a doubt, she's the definition of a drug-addicted and lazy prostitute who just got "lucky" in the business.. no talents whatsoever in that woman. -

I'd have to say yes. I like a lot of current pop and pop-country music but I've yet to hear a T-Swizzle song that wasn't instantly forgettable. I've tried liking her stuff but it just doesn't resonate with me. I'm surprised she's lasted this long I thought she'd be a flash in the pan but she's proven to have some staying power. I wonder how history will view her 30 or 50 years from now.

Are we really going into how generic pop artists are?
So Swift uses 'obvious melodies,' whatever that means. But it's pop music. It's supposed to be obvious and generic. Do people listen to metal and then complain about the loud guitars and angry vocals? No, that's what you get when you listen to metal. When you listen to pop you get a generic, simplistic sound.
I don't see how she is worse than any other female pop star.
