    VanBurenBoy — 20 years ago(January 11, 2006 06:05 PM)

Before i saw a loser a user and an abuser of the mighty opium I was hooked on it on every level then one day my friends intervented and showed me this film .
I have been clean and sober 5 years now that I know the evils of addictions to drugs and narcotics.

This movie is pretty exaggerated, but I'm glad to hear that you're off the marijuan cause that stuff screws with your brain cells.

There has never been a successful study proving marijuana kills or alters brain cells in a harmful manner. The anti-drug ads rarely tell the truth.
"marijuana kills brain cells is based on research done during the second Reefer Madness Movement. A study attempted to show that marijuana smoking damaged brain structures in monkeys. However, the study was poorly performed and it was severely criticized by a medical review board. Studies done afterwards failed to show any brain damage, in fact a very recent study on Rhesus monkeys used technology so sensitive that scientists could actually see the effect of learning on brain cells, and it found no damage."

Funny story, I actually happen to know a lawyer who smokes cannabis. When you meet an acquaintance, do they normally tell you out front that they smoke? It has never happened to me, and I know several people who smoke on a regular basis. Those people you mentioned, "johnny the hippy, fat kid, etc," are all stereotypes. How do you know rocket scientists and lawyers don't smoke? You don't know.

Who's to say? Anyone who's ever stood next to someone smoking a joint. Smoke all you like, but please don't act like it's some kind of wonderdrug brainbooster. If that's how you perceive reality, perhaps smoking DOES cause hallucinations like in the film.

Actually, idiot, it's a well-known fact that brilliant astronomer Carl Sagan loved his reefer. Ever heard of him? Carl Sagan? Wrote "Contact"? Was instrumental in designing the Voyager spacecraft?
