All the subs are going private for some strike ****. Thought I'd been wiped at first when I never saw my history! Jesus. What a bunch of snowflakes on that site, honestly.

The official app sucks and they're trying to kill of all 3rd party apps. People don't like that. I've used the reddit is fun app for years and don't want to get all the ads and ****ty layout forced down my throat.

It's because Reddit is killing support for 3rd party apps that people love. They've got an IPO coming up soon and everybody knows this is just one of the steps in their inevitable decline. First they ban the 3rd party apps. Then they throw even more ads at you. Try to cram as many social media features as possible. Eventually they'll ban porn like public companies always do. It'll become so bland and watered down that all the users will go away and some new web site will start the same cycle. Which is basically how Reddit became popular in the first place after Digg killed itself.
