One of my favorite scenes in this movie is the one where a steerage passenger produces a block of ice, and he and hie mates began kicking it around.
Another passenger said, "If we're to play a proper game, we've got to play by the rules."
As they enjoyed themselves with the ice, a first-class couple watched from above.
The husband wanted to join the players, but his snobby wife replied, "But they're STEERAGE passengers!"
Great example of the British class system here. -

I remember the film well however I don't recall this "soccer" scene. I remember a scene almost identical to the one you describe where a game of football is played. Could that be the scene you're thinking of?

Don't be snarky. The OP was using the American term for what most of the rest of the world calls "football", as you no doubt know. Yes, to the Irish immigrants playing the game (and the British upper class passengers watching in detached bemusement), it would have been "football". A distinction without a difference.
