    I enjoy the look of the film. Nice cinematography. Pretty buildings. The daughter with her mask is a striking visual. I like the demented calliope type score. Now, the negatives is the film is pretty slow and not all that much happens for most of it. Because of that I have to cap my grade at a 7. Worth a watch as a piece of horror genre history, but not likely to truly scare.

        True,
        Eyes Without a Face
        is more of a thriller. Though I do agree with the OP regarding the mise en scene, great use of locations and settings (particularly during Gnessier's more sinister moments) were extremely effective.
        I'd rather be hated for who I am, than loved for who I am not.

          That's a stretch because it would apply to much of Price's work with Corman and House of Wax too as far as the basement circus in those films is concerned.

            There are some pretty horrific scenes throughout. And of course, that mask is still nightmare inducing.
            So many stories, so little time.
