Do you think Bathsheba really loved Gabriel, or wanted the security of a married relationship? The music box ending sort of has me wondering

She loved and respected Oak, but she wasn't desperately in love with him the way she was with Troy. Her first marriage was an ill-judged folly in which she longed for Troy and he was bored with her and longed for Fanny. The music box refers to the glamour and shallowness of her first marriage, IMO, and puts it in its place.

The final scene freezing on the soldier in the music box is an ironic commentary on the fact that despite being married to Gabriel, Troy remains in Bathsheba's thoughts.
