On Svengoolie tonight

Another stupid one is when they simply muuuust pass you, only to drive 1/4 mile and get off at the next exit. Seriously? You couldn't wait 1/4 mile? WTF?
I get that a lot. These fools will weave in and out of lanes, passing everyone, only to be the first one to make it to the red light.
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.

snort
I laughed out loud on that one! It's so funny and I've seen that happen so often. In such a hurry to only end up in the same place. Hahaha!
Was it worth it? I mean, really, was it worth all that dodging traffic and speeding only to land at that red light as I pull up right next to them. Dweebs!

I saw it tonight when I came upon it by accident. I even learned a few things about the film that I did not know before.
But I must
disagree
with you. I think it's
an excellent thriller
, a good first effort by Spielberg. And Dennis Weaver does a good job as the "everyman" protagonist.

I have seen it a couple times before but like you I also just happened to come across it.
Loved watching it again and love the humor and the way Sven inserts himself into freeze frames.
"OK you be Starsky and I'll be Hutch," with him sitting in the car!
I also like learning the trivia.
Like, I knew that there was a reflection of SS in the phone booth glass but never saw it until they pointed it out and how clever to have his name backwards to be a name on that car!
What would you do in that situation and you don't have a gun?
You know where he hid the car and took a nap?
I would have just turned around and gone the other way and gone back home.

First of all, I would have called the police. I wouldn't give a damn that I didn't have any so called
"proof".
Fuck that. If that did not resolve the situation, I would have turned around and gone home. No business meeting is worth getting killed for.

Did you see the part where David did try calling the police from the phone booth but the truck driver almost ran him over and smashed the booth to splinters?
Of course today this would not happen where you have a cell phone!
LOL
And I found it interesting how the truck driver blew his horn to give David time to not get run over.
I guess he wanted to kill him in the car to make it more worthwhile for him.
To feed his ego from the challenge and not be too easy.

I've never heard a bad word about it before, but a lot of 70s TV movies have a cult following as you said. I thought Let's Scare Jessica to Death was ridiculous and boring as hell though. I think nostalgia has a lot to do with people enjoying these oldies.

One of those to watch every few years and that is what it was for me so I enjoyed it and love the jokes Sven does before and after the commercials.

I'm surprised you don't like it. It was written by Richard Matheson who wrote many of the classic Twilight Zone episodes and it has a very Twilight Zone look and feel to it. It even stars Dennis Weaver who was in the classic TZ episode "Shadowplay". I love it for the suspense and Weaver's over the top performance. I always try to figure out who the psycho truck driver is during the scene in the diner (of course, he's probably none of those guys).
what a boring and dry (no pun intended) movie.
It's typical 70's slowburn horror. It's slow going at first but builds on suspense as the film progresses. -

He wasn't because the truck drives off with Dave watching from the Diner and we did not see anyone from the diner get into the truck.
I liked how we never saw the drivers face and just body parts like a leg or an arm here and there.
I would have turned around and gone home first chance I got.
Of course Dave goes in the same direction of the truck so we can have a movie.
LOL
Imagine having a cat and mouse movie like this but the mouse just goes back to the hole with no final violent end for the cat as it always is.

As soon as JC
went supernatural
my interest just disappeared with that movie. Both Jeepers and Creepers = 33 in numerology. So it was named that for the dual (no pun intended) numbers.

This felt like the foundation for Jeepers Creepers.
It made no ****ing sense why that demon would need to drive.
That just makes it silly, goofy and stupid.
