Not til the end of the year, but it was an interesting experience, since I really had no prior experience using a computer…so I was learning as I went along.
I really had no guidance…I just went with instinct and adapted…and obviously made some wrong turns, but it all somehow came together and I realized everything followed the same pattern, so I caught on pretty quick.
I was also very lucky that I landed into the hands of tech gurus, and they took me under their wings and one guy especially took the time to explain stuff to me that got me into some very advanced areas.
I was a very valuable asset to these people, cos I had something they considered the holy grail and no one could believe I had what most in their circle had been seeking most.
So it was a pretty good tradeoff
Let's just say I made myself well-known in a very short amount of time…lol
That was a good thing and a bad thing as well.
The Internet was crazier back then and more tedious.
On top of that, I had Windows 3.11 while others were using Windows 95 or on a Mac.
I won't go into too much detail but I could write a huge novel about so many things that all lead to.
Some very funny things and some disasters…lots of drama too.
I feel like I lived several lifetimes in all the phases I've gone thru…I hung out several places and had been in several different social circles.
And due to all the changes going on thru the years that followed, I would constantly move onto other places to hang out.
I miss some of those old days…wish I had stayed in touch with some of the people I met along the way, but nothing ever stays the same and things just dissolve and I move on.
I'm not sure why IMDb had the biggest hold on me that I stuck with that the longest, maybe cos I wasn't as involved with the people there.
That changed when I went to v2, and that's odd since I was burned out on the message board stuff at that point and I ended up getting too involved and got in over my head…lol
      Are you okay?

Gee, what was that, if you don't mind me asking?
I hope you weren't ****ing them, lol.

          No…it was the real deal.
In those days, we used Usenet Newsgroups…I could never get on the web, cos it was so congested.
But I shared the "holy grail" and before I knew it, I was known all over Usenet - not just within my social circle.
The only way to describe it is like going viral overnight - I became quite famous..lol
And that's something I wasn't prepared for…it was very crazy.
I had something that was unreleased that I leaked and it was pretty big at the time.
Even though it eventually became available, I had a unique version of what I was the only source for.
I had the right connections in the day that I was able to obtain such things…I just didn't realize at the time how big of a deal it was until I proved I really had it.
          Are you okay?

Yeah, Gee, I don't want you to break copyright, but what was it?

I would tell you but I'd be doxxing myself…lol
It isn't as bad as it sounds…there were no legal issues involved.
I did get a cease and desist love letter one time from a museum, of all things, but that had nothing to do with the "holy grail"
I learned my lesson from that.
Anyway, those were the days before there were torrents, mp3s and other compressed formats, so it's safe to say it wasn't that type of thing you might be thinking it was.
I was on dialup back then, so uploading stuff was out of the question.
I did have to learn how to write html and read binary codes though…lol…what a headache that was! Things weren't as user friendly back then.
              Are you okay?

Sounds like an interesting story. Ever thought about actually writing a novel about it?

Personally, I think stories like these are unique but should be told. I'd read it. You can even use a Pen Name to keep your identity hidden from the trolls.

                      I didn’t frequent the internet until 2000.
That same year I discovered IMDB - but I didn’t discover the soapbox forum there for another 5 years.

late night shows are now either lame, or full of radical left venom and hatred.
