Agreed I'd even go as far as saying that this scene, for me, is probably the funniest in movie history!
And I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Gene Hackman could do such great comedy.

This film is filled with one great scene after another. If I was pressed to pick one I would pick the scene when the Monster visits the blind hermit.
In a movie filled with great scenes and moments, this is probably my favorite scene. My single favorite moment is the look on Peter Boyle's face after the toast. That "why me, lord?" look cracks me up every time.
As that great philosopher Bugs Bunny said, "Something tells me I shoulda stood in bed." -

That was good. But, even funnier was right after when the Monster gets his thumb set on fire when the hermit is trying to light the cigar. The Monster just looks at it calmly for a second then realizes what's happening, screams and blows out the flame.
That made the whole scene funny was the Monster was the perfect "straight" man to Hackman's character. -

I absolutely love at the end when Inspector Kemp shakes hands with the Monster, and his arm pops off.
"And now, let us all go to my house for a little sponge cake unt a little wine..
(arm pops off)
unt SH*T"
No idea why, but that part makes me laugh harder than anything else in the world. -

For some reason the first time I saw it I could not stop laughing for some time at the whole werewolf/where wolf scene, found it hilarious. And when wilder jabs his own leg with the knife, quietly dismissing the class.

I love that scene, too! Gene's expression when he gets stuck between the bookcase (especially when it first happens. He looks as though he's thinking, "Okay, that definitely wasn't one of my better ideas!") and the wall and his voice..Really, I'm surprised my pants stay dry during that scene! Incidentally, I wonder how many takes it took before both Gene and Teri (Garr, who played Inga) could get through the scene without laughing?!

Personally my favorite moment is when we are first introduced to Inga in the back of the wagon
"Roll, roll, roll in zee hay! Would you like to roll in zee hay with me? It is fun!"
She's so corny and cute at the same time, it's hysterical. Cracks me up every time LMAO

I like it when Frederick gets ticked off about the Monster not coming to life and starts choking him and beating on its chest. As he is being dragged off, Igor looks at us and says, "Quiet, dignity, and grace." He is being sarcastic because Frederick had just said that before he went nuts and then didn't believe it.
