I watched the first two seasons on Hulu, and I have no idea what the other 2 seasons are like, but I could tell in Season 2 the show might have jumped the shark. I mean the possession thing was not only odd (I know that the Exorcist was very popular, but it was poorly done. The proof is that the demonic possession was wrapped up within a few episodes) and so was the alien abduction was grasping at straws.
With that being said, I loved Burt and Mary and Benson and Jessica (not necessarily in that order) but these 4 were the glue that held the show together. -

billy. I found almost no laughs involving his character unless he acting with funny characters ie jessica , benson so on.. just don't think the actor was funny.I think even writers realized he was limited so they gave him very little to do. as for chuck bob they were best when they were not in too many scenes .just quick funny cameo's . as for Tim I thought when he was a priest some of the show's funniest moments. not as funny after he left priesthood.

Does this count?
CAROL! Lord, she got on my nerves. I mean, first she was Mallu's assistant, who pretty much forced herself on Jodie. Then, we couldn't go one episode without her crying fits/general bitchiness (any scene with her, Jodie, and Dennis WAS an episode of "General Hospital"). And then, (SPOILER) she stands up Jodie (one of the most heartbreaking scenes ever, IMO), has the baby, abandonns it, and then decides to take get it back, while playing up the mother card (END SPOILER).
Rebecca Balding might have been quite cute, but her character stunk. -

Yeah, Carol was TRULY EVIL. She was the perfect personification of the absolutely hypocritical "bible" thumper from texas who'd break every commandment to get her way. I lived there for 10 years. I knew people like her. So, I guess she was my least favorite character, but was also one of the best written. This was just a goofy sitcom, but I think they were making a pretty clever statement about the nature of hypocricy with her character.

Carol out of the women characters, she was totally reprehensible.
Out of the men it would have to be Detective Donahue. That whole story with him refusing to leave the Tate's house and fainting everytime he tried was tedious.

I just started to watch Season 1 on DVD. When Jodie goes into the hospital for his sex change operation then changes his mind because Dennis is going to marry a woman anyway, I want to yell at the TV, "No, do it before you meet Carol!"

I never cared for Eunice.
I just finished watching Season 3 and the way she is towards Dutch is awful. Just very immature.
And I agree that Carol was terrible! When Jodie and Carol first meet it really felt forced onto the audience that we had to like her because Jodie did, and we all asked why.
And she's not a recurring character after the first season, but I really disliked Claire. Not so much her character, which sucked, but the actress who player her annoyed me.
Chuck and Bob are GREAT!!! Love it when Bob gets drunk! -

His surliness just became too predictable - "D'you want me to get that?" etc.
The character looks a bit dated now - the funky, flip black man who stands up to his white boss. Nowadays you'd say "So what?"
Definitely agreed about El Puerco - he set my teeth on edge. I think the writers were losing it by then.
