I generally dislike re-makes but would like to see this one done.
In a good gritty style of course, something like Black Sea, no pretty-boy actors, no bimbos, no CGI, no shaky-camera.
A decent movie for ageing actors, an antidote to The Expendables or Red, with a decent script, not played for laughs
I would suggest you could pick a good crew from Liam Neeson, Ed Harris, Tim Blake Nelson, Mark Strong, John C. Reilly, Idris Elba, Jean Reno(also hinting at the link to the French original).
The bridge scene would have to be included as that image from the poster is unbeatable. -

You may not be aware that 'Socerer' is a remake of sorts, much like John Carpenter's 'The Thing'.

If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor & give it a watch.
While I enjoy both of the 1950s B/W originals, I prefer the newer versions.
I've read Campbell's "Who goes There?" & the Carpenter film follows it much more closely than the Hawks film. I haven't read Arnaud's novel yet, but I'll get to it one of these days.

Like anything, some remakes are worth making, many are not.
The 1992 film Last Of The Mohicans was the 5th or 6th telling of that story, we have had 3 decent films about the Bounty mutiny.
Remakes don't always fall short, and Sorceror was (IMHO) good but flawed, the original was better but being in French and B&W only film buffs would watch it now (outside French-speaking countries)
Hence it is ripe for a decent remake.
