No, you're right. They used leaves and a leaf blower to simulate "fall" in California. They had to re-bag the leaves and re-use them for other scenes, but they are there. You can definitely tell on the Blu Ray. It would give you an excellent excuse to re-watch it.

No, of course they're leaves. It's just that they're not from the trees in the movie. They were brought in from elsewhere, and blown in with giant fans, and raked up after every take.

Two scenes in particular jump out at me; the scene with Laurie and Annie riding in the car while smoking a joint and listening to 'Don't Fear The Reaper', and the closet scene.
I do not partake in marijuana but this scene is just so '70s it's perfect.
The closet scene was by far one of the scariest scenes to me. -

The scene after Curtis walks out of the closet and hangs on to the door frame, mean while Myers suddenly sits up right and looks over at Curtis, fantastic scene. I also like the scene after Loomis shoots Myers, he just stands there grunting before being dispatched (or so we thought) over the balcony.
It's all a deep end.
