My favorite was the arcadebecause it had the corniest jokes. The one that sticks out is the "three for one special", where the kids turn in a dollar, and the owner gives them 3 quarters. They say they've been shorted and he says, "No, it's the three for one special."

There was one scene (I saw it on the website). It was the "Opposite" scenes and Moose was in her room reading a book late at night.
Her father knocks on the door and says, "Christine, have you got any boys in there with you?"
She says, "No, Dad. I'm reading."
So then he opens the door and looks around and says, "Just as I thought. Well I brought this boy incase there wasn't one in here."
And this raggety boy walks in and Moose screams. Next thing you see is him jump on her. Strange. -

Definitely the scene in the cooking episode where Alasdair is making a sculpture with his mashed potatoes (at the kitchen/kitchen table set). His mother scolds him for doing so, and Alasdair claims that one day he'll be a great artist. The mother laughs at that and tells him to eat. Just then, in a hilarious entrance, Les Lye as Peter Cockroach (Modern Museum of Art critic) barges into the kitchen, offering to buy the potato sculpture for $10,000. The mother then tells cockroach not to encourage Alasdair, and smashes the sculpture into the plate.
While Alasdair and Abby are funny in their own right, Les Lye steals the scene as always. His hilarious entrance (where did he come from?) with wide eyes, very limp wrists and animated hands, proper and lispy voice, and overall flamboyant behavior throughout the scene is one of the funniest I've seen in this classic show. I should also mention that he is wearing a shiney red shirt, coat, and pants, a scarf, a large Beatles wig, earrings, and one of those black hats with a bunch of those little balled tassles all hanging all around the brim.
And just as a precaution to an accusation that will undoubtedly come up: I am not prejudiced because I find this scene funny. This show was filled with sometimes off-color humor and obscure jokes, but it was never unentertaining. -

One of my all time favorite scenes for this show was between Christine and Lisa. In the somewhere in the conversation Christine utters the words " I don't know.." and is immedeatly slimed with the green stuff. Lisa then asks as she flicks some of it off Christine's shoulder.. " Is it always green?"
Christine says. " Well it could be yellow" and she gets slimed again with yellow.. " Or Blue.." Once again she gets it " or red.." And a forth bucket is dumpped on her. By this time she is really starting to play up the fact that she's PO'd and looks upwards.. and says. " Alright smart guy. Let's see stripes???" she then gets hit with all four colors at once -

One of the few things I can remember from the show is when Doug adopted a "Crocodile Dougie" alter ego. They did a few skits on the show that were parodied from the movie. The best one was the "That's not a knife" scene. . .something like:
Bad guy #1: Give us your money.
Girl: He's got a knife!!
Doug: That's not a knife! pulls out a BIG knife That's a knife.
Bad guy #2: Yeah, well this is a gun! Now give us your money.
Give or take an adjective or two. -

A Christmas episode: during "the opposites," one kid got everything he could ever want (in the real world) and the other got a coaland of course, the kid who got the coal was all excited/
The line "blue skiesbarthy burgersgirls!"
I also remember someone getting slimed with slime that was some other color than green.can't remember any details tho.

What an excellent thread! I barely remember this series as i must have been only 8 or 9 but i certainly remember enjoying it. As a child in Australia I watched 3 Canadian tv series - Degrassi, Beachcombers and You cant do that on television.
From what i do remember there was one skit with a family who was very poor and could only afford to eat kidney and lima beans. The mother one day said to the kids "guess what, we're not having kidney and lima beans for dinner tonight!' The kids were ecstatic untill the mother explained that they were so poor they could only have lima beans for dinner, not the kidney.
The mother later told the kids they were so poor they could only use 1 square of toilet paper at a time from now on! lololol
The big question for me is - why can't they make good childrens tv like this any more?!

I remember the episode about Jealousy, and there was the lockerroom sketch with Coach, Alasdair and some other forgotthename. Coach was raggin' on the kids about them being so jealous/in awe of how their opposing quarterback was so cool throwing the ball around and that their opposing defense gave bone-shattering tackles. Quick added note from Alasdair saying to Coach, "and the other coach actually knows what he's doing!" Awesome. Coach repeated Alasdair's words. "What!" Took a few seconds for Coach to sink it in, he chased Alasdair to the locker where he hid. Coach opened the locker to find it empty to his dumb bewilderment.
I love that funny line, Alasdair.

I remember this one moment on the show where a kid is sitting on the toilet in the bathroom, and his mom comes in and informs him that it's time to eat, but it's "dirty day" or something like that, and so to be sure NOT to wash his hands after he was finished. I guess that's one of the few specific moments I can remember from the show because it struck me as being so gross and bizarre.

On the 'Magic' show, Alasdair's done up as a wizard, trying to cast spells with a magic wand while Christine is trying to persuade him to go back to the mental hospital: "I don't WANT to go there, they don't LIKE me there"

the one scene to me that stands out but not funny more disgusting that i can remember is when a girl was at the dinner table picking her boogers and putting them on a plate next to her it was a huge mountain on the plate. quite repugnant but now that I look back the show kicks ass. too bad kids now a days are subjected to crap on TV.
anyone else remember this scene? or am I crazy?
oh yeah and the intro to the show was cool.
