Is anyone else like, pseudo-worried about the next generation of teen actors?
When you look at all of these classic Nick shows, every now and again you spot someone that's big today. Alanis Morrisette was on YCDTOT. Melissa Joan Hart stared on Clarissa, which I think featured a couple of cameos from James Van der Beek. Jessica Alba was on a whole bunch of episodes of of Alex Mack.
What if this is like a trend?
Are all of these people famous just because they had talent and made those shows enjoyable, or was because it just because they were on TV and got a lot of face time?
All of the classic shows I just mentioned were great, but these new shows that Nick has are just terrible. Yet somehow the guy from Good Burger is on SNL now.
In five years are we going to see Jamie Lynn Spears have her own teen drama on the WB. Are we going to members of the All That cast releasing records and staring in hit movies.
Does this worry anyone else? -

I am giddy thinking of all of these forgotten memories. Maybe this comes from some kind of egocentric place that wants to validate my experiences in life, but didn't we (the children of the 80's) have it much better than the kids of today? Now everything is tied into merchandising, and sequals to movies are being planned before the original comes out and proves it can make money. And television, particularily children's television seems devoid of any value or originality. Sure we had our toys in the eighties that all seemed to be linked to a cartoon somehow, but look at all of the Nickelodean memories people have been sharing here! We're reminiscing about educational shows and shows from other countries shows that come from a wide variety of creative places. And the humor! There was actually strange and obscure humor being shared with us. And some of these shows were positively goofy! Gosh, I'm amazed. If someone could set me down in front of a tv and play all of these memories back to me, I'd never leave. I may just end up crying.
I remember hearing about Nickelodean from a friend of mine who'd moved to California. He had me thinking things like Mr. Wizard and You Can't Do That on Television were the most amazing things on earth even before I'd seen them. And then a year later when we finally got Nick from our cable company, I wasn't disappointed. God, I loved those shorts and the Nick logo animations! I had two teenage brothers who watched with me like it was (the original) MTV. What an amazing time. Though this isn't to say that I spent my entire childhood in front of the tv. Thanks for sharing your memories, you crazy kids! -

I remember Dennis the Menace. I loved that show as a kid. Leave it to Beaver used to be on alot but Im not sure if it was on Nick. I also remember My Three Sons. I remember Patty Duke also. Where she played twins. Identical cousins. Maybe some of this stuff was on Nick at Nite. I absolutely loved YCDTOTV and i do go to the website sometime. I saw the christmas episode back in december. It was so weird to see it again. God that was so long ago when I last saw the show. I remember Out of Control with Dave Coulier and Mr. Wizard. I also remember a show that no one has mentioned. I cant think of the name of it for the life of me, but it had a character, possibly a wolf that was named M T Promises. Ive looked it up and found nothing. Now i know I didnt make that show up in my head. Also Double Dare was the shiznit back then. Some kids from my high school were actually on the show. I went to a different school when those kids from my class were on double dare but everyone told me about it. God I wish it wouldve came to my school too. I loved Belle and Sebastian so much that I am definitely going to buy the dvd set that is available at only one website online. Its not available in any store or on ebay or amazon. Ever since I watched that show I wanted a Pyrenees Mountain Dog like Sebastian had. I still want a dog like that. I cant wait to get the dvd set. If anyone wants to know the website reply here and Ill get back to you with it or go to the belle and sebastian page on IMDB. Its actually called Meiken Jolie in french or japanese. Not sure what language it is. But it is dubbed in English like when it was on Nick. And I will definitely petition for a Classic Nick channel. I just got satellite recently and Im waiting for them to put some old shows on. Oh and one more funny note, this past sunday the Family Guy dad said I dont know and they slimed him and showed Les Lye from YCDTOTV(the opening clip of the show where the title is stamped on his face.) I was so excited when i saw that.
of all the things i miss, i miss my mind the most. "ozzy ozbourne" -

Does anybody remember Going Great? I remember this show ran for 30 minutes, but then Nickelodeon cut it up into 15 minute segments, and did the same with another show I can't remember so they'd both fit in the 30 minute time slot.
I also remember REM playing "South Central Rain" on Going Great around 1984 or sofirst time I'd ever heard them.

I have thought about this show for YEARS, I finally found out the name, it was called The Noozles. I guess it was an anime imported from Japan, just google The Noozles and you will find plenty of info. The other land was KoallaWallaLand I think, hope this helps.

There are 2 shorts that I am curious to see if anyone remembers. I think they both might have appeared on Pinwheel. The first was called Hattytown. It was about a town where all of the characters were different kinds of hats with arms and legs. Oh, and there was a donkey, too! Don't recall anything other than that. The other was about a boy and his grandfather. I don't think there was any dialogue though. All I know is that they were always eating small loaves of bread or something like that. Sound familiar to anyone? I know Hattytown was real, but sometimes I feel like I'm completely imagining the second one.

And the cat came back, the very next day. The cat came back, thought he was a goner, but the cat came back. He just wouldn't go away..
Twenty years since I watched that, and I can still see the whole dumb thing in my head. The hot air balloon, the car, the boat, wow. -

So I remember all of these shows. I loved YCDTOTV and Out of Control. I have a memory of the first "teen show" I was allowed to watch being Hey Dude when I was in first grade or something. It was on at 6 oclock and so much fun. Salute Your Shorts, Clarissa Expalins it All, The Secret World of Alex Mack and The Mystery files of Shelby Woo were some of my favorites. I love all the game shows from double dare, the one where they ran around a house and had to find things, th elegends one, the olympics like one and wild and crazy kids. That new show on after AI - where they all have to get one person to take the money, only reason i watched fopr the few minutes i did was beacsue of JD ROTH and his awesomeness from back in the Wild and Crazy Kids day.
I was really little and up early, maybe 5:30 or 6 in the morning and on the east coast. All i remember was dancing against a blueish screen and there were levels that they danced up and down. It had to have been before the nineties. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -

Wow.
It's amazing to see how many people have an interest in this topic.
I think all of our wishes may be coming true
I've been seeing this clothing line for old Nick shows.
I've already bought a double dare, and rocko's modern life shirt
I think it was called Nick Rewind.
Check out the Nick Rewind Website.
And do you know what this means!!!
They are on their way back!!! -
