    Wikipedia does tons of gatekeeping.
Both de Souza and Joel Silver did most of the connections (Verde is the country for Commando, Die Hard 2 and Predator, which was noted even more heavily in comic books and videogames for the latter).
One of the reporters from Die Hard 1 appears in Ricochet and Ridley Scott did the whole Blade Runner and Alien are connected after fans kept asking. The buses from Speed are the same fictional company as the ones in Die Hard 1 & 3.
Terminator's Cyberdyne corporation was in original draft for Aliens before being eliminated. They later did comic book/videogame crossovers with Terminator, AVP and Robocop.
Furthermore, the evil corporation's logo in Alien is visible in the show Firefly and that show & Blade Runner both have many connections to Battlestar Galactica.
It's not fans having too much free time…

I see. Speed using the same buses as Die Hard could be an unintentional movie prop convenience. Like the newspaper Al Bundy always reads which connects Married With Children to scores of other TV shows and films.

It wasn't unintentional as the same set/prop guys worked on it, let alone, the cinematographer was directing it and producer Lawrence Gordon stated it was meant to be the next Die Hard type disaster picture.

A big complaint about the Die Hard franchise is that in the real world John McClane would be hailed as a hero and probably move to a more lucrative career but in this Val Verde universe supercops (and supersoliders) are not out of the ordinary so a better opportunity won't necessarily show up for him. I think that also gives Robocop a better grounding in Val Verde than in reality.

In all fairness, Robocop is more of a social commentary (a la the usual Cyberpunk noir) on the dangers of technology and the corporations that shield them, hence why the Weyloun Yotuni company (allued to in Firefly/Angel/Alien films/Blade Runner) made replicants and has connections to Cyberdyne/Skynet from the Terminator films.
I mainly love how the newer Battlestar Galactica show made allusions to Blade Runner and essentially shows that mankind is still refusing to learn from its mistakes. McClane's lifestyle is mainly based on stupid luck, the only thing missing are any Lethal Weapon connections.

I apologise for linking to this website as it used to contain many of IMDbs worst ******* who couldn't eject a videotape for love nor money
However one of them picked up on something I mentioned back in the day and made a brief article upon it and so it might help you out on the universal connection you are looking for between all of these movies.
You can read it here and hopefully that will get you on your next step
                of our cinematic trail.
Don't comment though there, they are just a bunch of fags.

I remember the ManlyMovie jerks. Some of them were spamming all of the Expendables movies forums which became insufferable.

At the very least you have your Lethal Weapon universe somehow in play though

Completely! And speaking of Expendables, if I ever get a chance, I'm going to ask the writer who created that silly '80s inspired saga and ask if Val Verde is in fact the country so I can connect it to this alternative cinematic universe.

I think there should be a Val Verde stamp of approval for films which fit the bill of being awesome
The writers also have to explain off-camera how Val Verde is connected to the film.
It could make choosing what to watch a whole lot easier
