Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — When a Stranger Calls

Is the person who did the music responsible for the
    THX Sound
or did Lucas Film just use the music from WHEN A STRANGER CALLS for their "THX" commercial that used to play before the movies would start?
I kept hearing that sound during WASC and kept thinking of the "THX" logo.

I wish I had an answer - just letting you know that I'm here wondering the same thing.

I guess one of these days we'll find out. I've noticed that many newer films (I can't remember when it started) don't have that THX beginning anymore, I guess they don't use it, but I have that sound associated with the anticipation of the beginning of a movie (like Pavlov's dog). Every time I hear it I get that same feeling that I'm about to watch a movie

It's close, but definitely not the same cue. I did have the thought though.
Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

            You're probably right.
