What do you expect? It still happens to this day in Hollywood now! You see it happening with actors to where they will somehow get married then within a certain amount of time they get divorced like within 5 to 10 years. It is the structure of using this person or that person to become famous.

She's at home still counting the money old Clint gave her when they got divorced. Poor thing.

She was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Heart is a Lonely Hunter.a couple of years before she started making movies with Clint.
That nomination happened almost seven years before Locke started making movies with Eastwood, and her career had since devolved into one of episodic television appearances and roles in low-budget horror flicks. Eastwood basically picked Locke out of the Hollywood dustbin of one-hit wonders.

The only reason she had a career is because of Clint. No more Clint, no more career.

I thought she was good in the Gauntlet, especially when she was a real drama queen, but she is only really known for Clint Eastwood movies though, otherwise forget it.

Wow there are some Locke-haters on this board ..
                            Just don't include me!
I for one AM a fan. And first off, Clint DID NOT "make" her film career. She was already a said name by 1975, not only for scoring an Oscar nomination (The Heart is a Lonely Hunter -'68), but for several featured & notable TV & film roles & appearances before and after. She also dabbled a bit in modeling.
She met Clint in '75 when her agent sent her to screen for 'The Outlaw, Josey Wales'. It was Clint Eastwood, after all. How could she possibly turn down the role? Upon meeting him, he fell smitten with the petite blond and cast her, hands down. The rest, as fans already know, is history.
Things turned ugly, following Bronco Billy (1980). But she was already committed (contract) to finish at least 3 more films, so she 'bit the bullet'. He turned jerk, on the home-front.. When Sudden Impact wrapped, they'd been split for some time. In fact, he'd already been comfy with a new "leading lady". During and after this, his reputation with the studios black-balled her horribly. No one would work with her, nor hire her.
Locke sued him soon after, successfully, for trying to breach his promise of her directorial debut. He ended up financing at least 2 of her films; which included Ratboy - which bombed, of course.
She bowed out of sight; humiliated over their split and her rejection from Hollywood - which could have been handled more appropriately by Clint.

Horrible, horrible actress and every time I heard the woman sing in the two 'Philo' movies it was like nails going down a chalk board.
And there are a lot of actors and actress' who were nominated for Oscars and quieted were never seen or heard from again.
                                Model for what, my eyes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it wasn't for Clint Eastwood, she would have had no acting career at all, period. If he's such a horrible person, why do several actors continue to work with him over the years, a lot of the actors from the 'Black Widow' motorcycle gang are in several of Clint's movies and Geoffrey Lewis appeared in a lot of Clint's movies.
To me it's sour grapes, Sondra could have left Hollywood and went to New York or even up in Canada where TV movies and shows started filming in the late 80's and 90's.
There are a lot of Hollywood super couples who hook up when the meet in movies and TV shows that continue to work after they break up. Sally Field won another Oscar in the mid 80's after her long relationship with Burt Reynolds in the 70's.

To each their own in my humble opinion, she's on my top 10 most annoying actress lists, that will never go off unfortunately, and if she was so good as an actress or singer even with Clint black listing her, she would have made it on her own talent wise.
Death to the lilac, bush, tree, and vine, my sinuses can't take it.

From 1975 until 1989, Locke cohabited with actor Clint Eastwood. In the late 1970s, Locke underwent two abortions and a tubal ligation. According to her autobiography, she decided to have the procedures because Eastwood insisted parenthood would not fit into their lifestyle. She later discovered Eastwood secretly fathered two children with another woman during the last three years of their relationship.
In 1989, Locke filed a palimony suit against Eastwood, after he changed the locks on their Bel-Air home and placed her possessions in storage while she was directing the film Impulse. The two parties reached a settlement in 1990, when Eastwood set up a film development/directing pact for Locke at Warner Bros. in exchange for dropping the suit.
In 1995 Locke sued Eastwood for fraud, alleging that he had compensated Warner Bros. to keep her out of work the studio had rejected all of the 30 or more projects she proposed, and never assigned her to direct any of their in-house projects. According to Locke's attorney, Eastwood committed "the ultimate betrayal" by arranging the "bogus" film directing deal. In 1996 just minutes before a jury was to render a verdict in Locke's favor, Eastwood agreed to settle for an undisclosed amount. The outcome of the case, Locke said, sent a "loud and clear" message to Hollywood "that people cannot get away with whatever they want to just because they're powerful." The case is used in some modern law school contracts textbooks to illustrate the legal concept of good faith.
At the time of the victory, Locke had a separate pending action against Warner Bros. for allegedly harming her career by agreeing to the sham movie-directing deal that Eastwood had purportedly engineered. As had been the case with the previous lawsuit, this ended in an out-of-court settlement in 1999.
