Have to admit, I know him from Too Close for Comfort mostly, but he played the pompons ass to a letter in Cadyshack and really gave it that seasoned flavor. It's funny I used to work for a guy who was that "full" of himself yet was no better off than me, so that whole boating scene when he's christening his 20' POS sale boat and Dangerfield's anchor comes in and sinks it is just a smile to my face every time

          Ted was funny in everything.
He regularly stole the show in The Mary Tyler Moore show.

Caddyshack had an ensemble cast. Ted Knight was just one of the boys.

It's easy to win when your ship comes in and you've got the stock market beat; but the man who's worthwhile is the one who can smile when his pants are too tight in the seat.

I agree, among all the comic talent, including Bill Murray, who I feel is the best comic of all time, Ted Knight is the best of the best in Caddyshack.

You are so correct on this, sir. Ted Knight was the best in this film. Had the most iconic lines and delivered them to perfection that we're still talking about it and repeating them nearly 40 years later. This film has never lost its classic appeal, thanks largely for knight. Dangerfield and the others wouldn't have been as funny. We lost him way too soon.

100% agreed! One of the funniest scenes is when Noonan walks into his office (after the judge has caught him with Lacey). As Smails casually turns in his chair his leg bangs the table and his eyes get really big with pain! 😄

One of my favorite movies of all time. Great performances from everyone but Knight's stood out. My favorite line:
"How about dropping by the Yacht club? Mmmmm? Mmmmmm? Mmmmm??"
My friends an I imitated the line and his mannerisms while saying that line long after
