I've just watched this tonight with my brother and while I didn't think this was a great movie but it was highly enjoyable and fun to watch, I give this movie a 7/10

As a kid - 0, i couldnt watch it, thought it the most frightening thing ever!
Now, an 8. I still have a few issues with it generally i am very fond of it.

I'm the opposite. I remember loving the movie as a kid, I think it was one of the first movies we had on VHS when it came out. Watching as an adult, I still like it, but it doesn't hold up quite as well. One thing I didn't appreciate as a kid was how great Max von Sydow was, as Ming.

csweetleaf2, you pretty much summed it up. It's camp but fun, 7/10.

It was a s**t film, and in no small part to Lorenzo Simple and Dino de Laurtentis who thought Flash Gordon was an Italian comic book superhero.
              I mean, wow.
How arrogant and utterly stupid can you get?

                    1. Love the humor. Love the costumes and special effects which were faithful to the old serial, and the vivid colors which gave it that comic book look.

Imagine Brian Blessed shouting 11. That much.

                        6/10.
One of the most memorable bad movies, but still a bad movie at the end of the day.

Definitely an 8. Saw it twice in the theatre as a kid. Love the obvious Italian designs on everything. The music is still kick ass today and Max Von Sydow is beyond fantastic as Ming. Just the way he says no while eating grapes is awesome.

Our family had just got Cable TV when they started showing Flash Gordon on HBO in 1981. I must have watched it 100 times that summer.
                                10!

                                  I'll give it:
1 point for Princess Aura being the hottest hottie ever.
1 point for Max Von Sydow's crazily entertaining performance
1 point for Brian Blessed and Timothy Dalton's performances.
1 point for the few other entertaining moments I can probably think.
Other than that, this movie is a chore to sit through.
And NO, it's not because I "don't get it" or don't appreciate camp. I enjoy a good campy production. But this movie just fails on too many levels for me to enjoy.
                                  So, over all 4/10.

"Flash Gordon" gets a 10 out of 10 from me. I think it is the most enjoyable film of all time. It's very campy and funny. The characters are what makes it work for me.

6 is the best I can do. It keeps drawing me back for the glorious art design, the driving beat of the score, Von Sydow, Ornella Muti, the brisk pacebut the script grows no less painful to endure, and neither Sam Jones nor Melody Anderson can do anything with their awful lines. Yes, I
                                      get
the humor and it's just not my taste, to put it mildly.

I give it 6. Mostly for the jokes and
                                        Brian Blessed
                                        .

I still prefer the Buster Crabbe movies. :3

I'll give it a 10/10, mostly because Ornella Muti was a 10 in this!
