Definitely an 8. Saw it twice in the theatre as a kid. Love the obvious Italian designs on everything. The music is still kick ass today and Max Von Sydow is beyond fantastic as Ming. Just the way he says no while eating grapes is awesome.

I'll give it:
1 point for Princess Aura being the hottest hottie ever.
1 point for Max Von Sydow's crazily entertaining performance
1 point for Brian Blessed and Timothy Dalton's performances.
1 point for the few other entertaining moments I can probably think.
Other than that, this movie is a chore to sit through.
And NO, it's not because I "don't get it" or don't appreciate camp. I enjoy a good campy production. But this movie just fails on too many levels for me to enjoy.
So, over all 4/10. -

6 is the best I can do. It keeps drawing me back for the glorious art design, the driving beat of the score, Von Sydow, Ornella Muti, the brisk pacebut the script grows no less painful to endure, and neither Sam Jones nor Melody Anderson can do anything with their awful lines. Yes, I
get
the humor and it's just not my taste, to put it mildly. -

As stated, it's campy as all get out and a lot of fun. It's a weird case where the two leads are pretty bad actors, but are surrounded by some really talented (even borderline great) actors who don't appear embarassed by the campiness and really get into their roles. The soundtrack is just awesome. The effects were OK for the time and did harken back to the old serials, as well.
Ultimately, it's usually worth a watch when it's on.

Gave this a 3.
and it is lucky to get that.
Sure I laughed at times, not because the joke was good, but because of how bad it was. This is slightly better than Sharknado.
If you want campy fun, try Killer Klowns from Outer Space. Now that is a campy fun good time. -

for a new movie, i would expect this.
for an 30+ year old movie that is camp/cult fav, not so much.
takes a special amount of hate to come to a board on a movie this outdated and post like that.
Go away, or I shall taunt you a second time!
