I saw this in the theater back when it came out as I was 10 and I remember being one of three in the theater when it played.
The soundtrack alone elevates this to a 10.

I thought exactly the same thing. Except that I was going to add that I had never seen Ted and that the only reason that I know of its existence is because I made a (terrible) short film with almost the same premise a few years before Seth MacFartLane.

Nope. I was 11 when this came out. I loved it then and love it now. Ted had its moments, but I won't be watching that movie again like I will FG.

No, saw this on its initial cinema release. Despite its cheesy campness, I love this movie.
Hail Flash Gordon, savior of the universe!

I think my distaste for Seth MacFarlane really dissuaded me from ever watching Flash Gordon.
Luckily, I found it very cheap and on Blu ray, and the cover sold it to me. Very cheesy, but colorful. Looked like it had good production design.
I watched it and loved it, and my hatred for Seth MacFarlane compounded itself and then kind of vanished because out of the humorous irony of it all.

I saw "Flash Gordon" in the movie theater downtown when I was about 30 years old. I've loved it ever since. In fact, I'm watching it yet again right now. Undoubtedly, I've seen it more than 100 times, making it one of my "century mark" films.
                  I don't know "Ted", a movie I suppose? I know I haven't seen a film titled "Ted" unless there's more to it.

'Ted' was released in 2012 and 'Ted 2' three years later. The films starred Mark Wahlberg and featured his adventures with a foul-mouthed and (usually) stoned Teddy Bear.
It was brought to us by the same people as 'Family Guy', and there are frequent references to 'Flash Gordon' plus a brief appearance from Sam Jones.

Nope. I grew up in the 1980's and must have seen this film at least a dozen times on cable TV back in the day.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
