How old were you when you watched the first one? That ending shot has been embedded into my head since early child-hood.

I first saw it in the summer of 87 good old VHS days. Had a sleepover/horror movie night with 2 other friends. I was 10 at the time. Shocking was an understatement for me.

Due for a remake? Why would you want to encourage Hollywood to be devoid of any creativity and remake yet another slasher/horror from the Eighties?
Especially slasher from the 80s which still holds up. Have you seen it lately? Those FX still look quite realistic and brutal. So yeah, I am with you here, there's no need for remake. Let them "throw" something original for a change, or at least, make something that's already seen, but threat it with more care. (khmm, like Wan treated "The Conjuring?")
If it is remade then almost certainly it won't be very good going by the recent offerings and will be hated by almost everybody (especially by the original's fans) just like The Fog and Black Christmas. Then you'll have everyone saying that there should never have been a remake!
well those don't suck because they are remakes. They suck because they are terrible movies.

This was a GREAT movie so that wouldn't be bad, as long as it was a GOOD remake and they spent time on it, instead of piecing some nonsense together.

Just what we need, a bunch of lame CGI gore to replace Savini's brilliant practical effects.

This movie is fine the way it is. A remake is not necessary.

I'm sick of remakes and am usually against them on principle, but this is where I would make an exception; if this was remake they could add things not in the original like pacing and editing and complete story. I'd say it has potential.

You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.
