I was just about to mention the Sinbad story. It was ground-breaking back then, as many of us were still new to the internet.
Poor Sinbad - it got so bad he had to flee to Manchester and set up a kebab shop.

I started watching it while I was in school,when the dug up Trevor, as everyone was going on about it
Shortly after they had a story where an old man called George (he's been in One Foot in the Grave, George & Mildred) stayed at the close. He had been abroad can came back with some terrible virus that infected and killed loads of the residents. Leo Johnson (I think) saw his mate collapse and die in the swimming pool and Patricia's mum, Jean, nearly died. Her husband confessed to an affair when he thought she would die. She lived and left him. Racist Ron accused Mick Johnson of poisoning everyone from his pizza shop.

After Bernie Nolan's (who played Diane)death I remember the storyline where her characters stepdaughter gets pregnant by Mick's son and had an abortion.
