I remembered playing over at a relatives house. They had a Doberman, and he was running around in the backyard with us as me and my cousins ran around, playing tag. I think he got so excited, he then jumped on me, not to attack, but to play. I started screaming because I thought he was going to bite me. My aunt had to race over and drag me away from him. It wasn't really an attack, just a dog who got overexcited.

Interesting, someone beat me to it about a beagle.
My parents owned four beagles through my childhood up until now (spanning 20 years). The "small" beagles (13 inches, I think) have never been anything but friendly. But the bigger beagle (15 inches) was always very surly and about five years old, started to bite. The one time it got me was when I hovered over his head (face to face) and asked him for a kiss. Instead he bit my throat. I, of course, tried to jump away. I could feel my throat skin being stretched and pulled in his teeth, before the flesh finally cleared through his jaws like bubble gum.
Only left a small gash, but could've been much worse I imagine. The next day ironically was Halloween, and instead of telling of what an idiot I was, I told people it was "fake blood" make-up. They bought it. -

Last week I was washing my wife's car in my driveway when this huge boxer came running up from behind me. He bit me "not hard" but enough to hurt on my calf and held on. I reached down and punched that dog in the head as hard as I could and he fell down and then ran away yelping.
When I was a kid I walked past this old piece of crap house to get to my freinds house and they had a medium sized dog. Not sure what kind, but it would come running out and chase me down the street everytime I went by. I told my dad about it and he went and told the guy who owned the house to keep the dog on a chain or he would kill it. The guy told my dad that he wasn't going to. So, one after noon my dad got his .44 and went to the guys house, picked up the dog and threw him in the passenger seat of the truck. My dad then picked up speed to about 70mph and then rolled his window down and threw the dog out the window. He put it in reverse and saw the dog was still alive so he put 3 rounds into it. The guy came around looking for his dog and asked my dad "What did you do to my dog?" My dad said, "It'll be nothing compared to what I do to you if you don't get your f-ing ass off my property." The guy never came around again and ended up moving like a year later and the house was torn down. -

When I was a kid, I owned a golden retriever and when we'd play he'd bite my shoes because he knew that anywhere else would hurt. He was such a good dog.
Down the street, there was this german shepard that would bark every time I walked by it's fence. One time it got loose when I was riding my bike past and it chased me for blocks. I decided to take a detour and go into a heavily trafficked area in the hopes that a car would plow the stupid thing down. Unfortunately, the cars would stop and then the dog was scared and stopped chasing me. The owners got him back and promised to keep him chained up so we wouldn't file a complaint. -

Wow, so your dad decided it was the dog that was the problem? Why not shoot the owner and take the dog and train it properly. Unless the dog was completely insane, it's the owners fault and not the dogs.
What interests me is 1) Your dad was able to pick up the poor dog and throw him into the passenger seat of the car without any kind of fight (sounds like the dog was not much of a threat and small enough to pick up, chuck onto the truck seat and then throw out the window of a truck moving at 70mph 2) The dude actually bothered to look for his dog 3) Your dad shot the dog 3 times on a public road and then left the dog to rot?
I hope this was all just make believe, but I do sincerely hope your dad had/has an incredibly horrible terrible painful death -

When I was very young, I was petting a friendly pooch that suddenly lunged at my ear giving it a permanent scar (I might actually be missing a piece!)
(guess it was Mike Tyson's dog (bad joke drum noise))

I remember when I was little kid, I was walking outside for some reason. It was a somewhat overcast day. I thought my brother was next door at his friends house so i walked next door and then noticed 2 black dogs sorta coming towards me down the street. I quickly went up to the persons porch, and rang the doorbell. I looked back and the dogs were coming up the stairs towards me. I got Soooo scared I grabbed the screen door on the front door and just stood between that and the front door (no one would answer the front door). As soon as I did this the dogs just stopped and looked at me, then they just turned away and left.
It was pretty scary at the time, I think I would still be scared if that happened. -

When I was 6, my parents were talking to our new neighbor, and the neighbor had a big dog. He asked if I'd like to take it for a walk. I said sure. I wrapped the hoop of the leash around my arm. The dog saw a deer and took off. I was pulled at full speed across the concrete road and into a feild of cactus, before the leash came off my arm.
Not really an attack, but scared the pants off me.

When I was 4, our neighbors had a dog - a big, black, aggressive mongrel. I was always afraid of him. His name was Czarek. One evening when the neighbors were working in their field, talking with my family, their dog started to chase me. I don't know now how it was possible I was able to run away from Czarek - I was only 4 in that time and I couldn't run too fast. I still remember this. Luckily I didn't have even one bite on me.

I was playfully attacked by a german shepherd when I was little. I was about 4 or 5 years old and was playing in the yard when I saw the GS further down the road. It saw me too and came running at me, probably thinking it found a new playmate, and it was barking and wagging it's tail. When it came up to me it started jumping up on me and as I was 4 or 5 years old I was a lot shorter than the fully grown GS on it's backlegs. I was scared and screamed and cried and I tried to run away and hide but the GS just followed me and seemed to think we played catch or something. My mom eventually heard me screaming and came out and scared the dog away.
Looking back on that now, I really think the dog just wanted to play with me. This german shepherd might have been a bit sadistic - I was screaming and crying and GS is not a dumb dog so it must have understood that I was scared - but it never bit me or anything like that. I was scared of big dogs for YEARS after that but when I was in my late teens, 18 years or so, I noticed that I wasn't scared by big dogs anymore. Especially german shepherds used to scare me, just seeing them was enough, but not anymore. I'm 27 now and my guesses are that I probably stopped being scared of dogs when I grew and became bigger than them. Most of them anyway I'm not at all afraid of dogs now, fact is that I would very much like to have a dog and I would absolutely love to have a german shepherd! They have such expressive eyes!
