I agree - she should have been a super-star much like Demi Moore. However, the hollywood machine is a very picky and it can make or break people's chances what a shame.
But, maybe with the rise of the indy movement, she will find a new home with hundreds of other "low-end" actresses/actors who deserved a lot better.
We can only hope.

The difference between her and Demi Moore is one Demi Moore had been acting for awhile, and had been on a soap opera for a year, and back then television stars, either made the decision to be on television or grind it out in the movies.
Ms. Moore decided when she left her soap opera to try television she did couple of television shows and decided to just focus on movies.
Michelle Johnson had never acted before and was on her way to become a model, when she was spotted and signed to do this movie, and since she had NO acting experience she decided to do television, and if recall most of the movie she was offered they just wanted her to always be naked.
Demi Moore gets noticed in this movie, does another that does so so, but I remember when St. Elmo's Fire came, and that movie made the careers of basically all the lead cast, it gave birth to the Brat Pack Emilio Estevez, Rob Lowe, Andrew McCarthy, Demi Moore, Judd Nelson, Ally Sheedy, and Mare Winningham.
I think Michelle Johnson was a natural and very good in this movie for it being her first acting job, she was the reason the movie did well in the first. -

I first saw this at 14 and she became the perfect fantasy. Vacation, beautiful island, and a sexy horndog chick.
A few minutes ago the fantasy of my youth was a bit tainted, finding out she's actually 17 in those scenes. I dunno, when I was 14-17, I wouldn't've cared. But at 29, uhhhhhhhhh
For those who follow baseball, she ended up marrying ex-Giant/Diambondback/Indian Matt Williams. A big, tall, bald guy. -

Yep that is correct. Old looking Matt Williams who was baldy by his rookie year. I remember during the world series they would keep flashing back to her and I said to myself. Uh oh I know who that is and how i would stay up and watch Cinemax after my parents went to sleep. Those boobs were as perfect as they get.

How could Hollywood have overlooked someone like Michelle Johnson who was not promoted like Demi Moore was, even though anyone who saw this film wanted to see more of Michelle and could care less about Demi?
Hollywood seems to be more about jumping through hoops and sleeping with influencial people than talent. -

Just caught Blame it on Rio tonight. Michelle Johnson was gorgeous, her voluptuous body would probably be considered grossly obese by today's hollywood standards, unfortunately. That scene where she takes a picture of herself for Michael Caine was awesome, gorgeous hips, breasts, legs, she had it all in 1984.
