Mike Barns sure did not do anything to show such good sportsmanship in KK3. I think it would have been cool if Johnny had been in a sequel but as a good guy and a friend of Daniel and Mayagi.
If he had managed to win (if the Crane Kick had failed) I think he STILL would have congratulated Daniel. Daniel no longer had to worry about the bullying once he faced Johnny because he still would have won 2nd place and bullying only works if you are WAY tougher than your opponent. If you are only a little bit tougher the bullying does not really work. Facing Johnny if the fight had happened early in the tournament would not have saved him from the bullying necessarily but he had to beat several people some of them being other kobra kais to get to the final match so just getting there would have ended the bullying problem.
In fact even if his leg could not be fixed he would have been awarded 2nd place. I almost think Mayagi made a major error in judgement allowing Daniel to finish the match because being already broken there is a danger that his leg could suffer permanent damage. -

Well just to be clear here, his leg was not broken. It was a muscular injury which Miyagi relieved ( a bit unrealistically) by performing a form of acupressure.
Miyagi said Daniel had already achieved all that was necessary, but as Daniel pointed out if he lost in this way then the bullies still won. This is why Miyagi helps him take place in the final. Not necessarily to win but to face his nemesis Johnny Mano a Mano.

Johnny clearly wasn't thinking straight after Daniel illegally punched him in the back of the head in round two.
The Crane Kick was also an illegal move as it was a direct strike to the head. It is a tragedy that the once prestigious All Valley Karate Tournament was won by someone blatantly cheating and who technically wasn't eligible.

You mean like the kick Johnny delivered right to Daniels head that the referee scores? Why is one kick legal and the other not? Oh that's right, because you say so.

No, the tragedy here is any uninformed person can come on here and make things up and the rest of the chimps in the gang believe it.

I would think that Johnny gained a lot of respect for Daniel as I would because he turned it all around from a kid who is bullied to actually winning the event. Johnny may not have ended up Daniel friend as like Ali not on his wave length. But he will have respect for him now

Would've been cool to see Johnny team up with Daniel against Barnes in part III, but then I think it would've been way too similar to Rocky and Apollo being friends in Rocky III.
