You're what we would call in England, a 'prat'.
An ill informed prat, at that.

        What are you blabbering about?
This film was even worse than The Thing.

Wow. You're as dumb as the people who trashed The Thing when it came out.

            I couldn't disagree more.
"The Thing" was a great film! It was in no way a poor effort by Carpenter. He did get some flak for it but it was more in his timing of its release.
"Starman" is a very good film too, but it does drag in spots & its also a COMPLETELY different type of scifi film.
I would never even compare the two.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
            Didn't he discover America?
            Penfold, shush.

Did Carpenter really said that? "forgive me for what i've done with The Thing". I like starman and you really can't compare the two films but to say that the thing sucks or anything like that is crazy , I do agree that carpenter evolved more as a director for starman in terms of storytelling and perhaps a more mature film for him also. it's a good film but it's not as memorable as his other films but it's better than all his films he did in the 1990's. I can understand that some fans see this film as his best work but I think that's because he did something else instead of the usual horror/action film that he is most famous for.

The only thing Carpenter should apologise for, is Starman!
Very dumb rip off of E.T without a shred of that films quality, emotion or humour.
Starman is a science fiction film for people that don't really like science fiction.
The plot is ridiculous and contrived, without an ounce of intelligence. In fact it treats it's audience as if it had no sense. Mind you not sure what that says about the people that were taken in by this garbage.

The Thing is a MUCH better movie than this, it's not even remotely close
