I thought Shatterday sucked. Compared to Wordplay and ALPAQ it was pretty boring.

I haven't seen it in a long while, but I thought he was great in it (and there are FAMOUS Bruce Willis movies that I either don't like or HATE, so it isn't prejudice). It came on when he was just taking off, due to Moonlighting.

It starts well, A great idea, accidentally phoning your own number and YOU answer. but then it's downhill all the way. "Bad" Bruce just gives up the ghost and fades awayboring. Would have been much better if there was some twist like the "Good" Bruce thinks he's victorious and suddenly gets murdered by "Bad" Bruceand they BOTH disappear because he's killed himself. That's what I thought was gonna happen, not the lame ending I saw.

No way it was great. It got me into the whole twilight zone thing. The story line wasn't boring either. I must have watched this episode at least 50 times.

the ending you propose is too standard.
Ive seen that idea a million times.

This was the first episode of the NEW Twilight Zone. It HAD to use a similar formula to the original series, whereby there is usually a MORAL lesson and GOOD triumphs over evil. It wasn't meant to be a horror story where evil wins in the end.

"Bad" or "pessimistic" endings are not exclusive to horror, there were many such endings in the original TZ.

There's nothing ironic about that. I believe you meant to say coincidental. People use the word irony almost always in the wrong context.

I actually didn't think Shatterday was that great. It was a bit abrupt for me and the acting wasn't really what I had hoped it to be. Season 1 of the 80's TZ had some of the best episodes though!

Agree! Great concept, poorly executed. The ending reveals to us what the duplicate actually was; a piece of the original that had taken on a new life but it was horrendous exposition that should have come out through story growth and not plain dialog.

I realise your post is 4 years old but just in case you can buy The Twilight Zone in Australia now. I got all the DVD sets when it was on special at JB Hi Fi. Love it. Keep an eye out for it if you haven't already purchased it.

Really like this ep. Bruce was great in it and it was a great way to restart this classic series. There was a similar ep on TFTDS with a man that was slipping from existence too. Both eps are really great.

I wouldn't say it's the greatest Twilight Zone episode ever but it is a great episode with an awesome performance by Bruce Willis
