I just watched this again, and this guy just looks like a joke. The mustache, the clothes, the flab hanging out everywhere. Hard to believe Matrix would even waste more than a few seconds killing this guy.
The funny thing is that in reality Vernon Wells was former Australian Special Air Service in his youth. A very hard elite unit to pass selection for.

Either asexual or gay(not that it matters) or at least bisexual probably. Especially since he looked like a member of the village people with that weird-ass chain vest thing and his mustache(unless perhaps that was a thing of the movie's era)
While it isn't super important I found myself wondering the same thing the first time I watched the movie.

Sure, he was. Bennett doesnt need to explain himself on this matter. The real question is whether or not John Matrix liked the men. Bennett seemed to think Matrix was living a lie and hated him for it. Explains everything. In some ways this movie is like an adaptation of Gore Vidals The City and the Pillar, with Matrix as Jim. -

I hadn't seen this in 25 years and I had the same thought. But the effeminate bad guy used to be a cliche in lots of spy movies. He didn't even seem a plausible challenger to Arnold. Just a fat guy in leather pants.
Why? I came into this game for the action, the excitement Listen, kid, we're all in it together. -

Arnold did say you want to stick it in me and twist. Kinky nearly brought him to orgasm saying that.
I think Bennett saw he was being left on the shelf, with the daughter present and wanted that hidden life in the mountains with pal of many years.
Had to teach him a lesson in gay revenge, especially unappreciated fat gay men compared to cheating steroid takers.
They don't make gay romance films like this any-more, shame.
Tear jurking should have been in the description.
Arnold has to rub it in at the end when the colonel asks him if he wants to do it again, and he said "No Chance"
brought a tear to my eye, powerful stuff. Then the song "We fight for love" begins with the credits.
What ever did happen to Arnold wife who he had the daughter with?
Perhaps the catholic church wanted to ban such a controversial film like this. -

This is actually discussed in the FAQ. He did play a homosexual character in Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior.
