i consider this movie to be one of the funniest of all time for one simple reason i can watch it over and over again and still laugh uproarously i've never quoted a movie as much either to me the two funniest scenes are when he's with the airplane mechanics and the guy goes "i'm always asking him what are you doing down in south america, you doing some stuck line or something" the mock laugh Fletch(or gordon liddie) gives there is absolutely priceless then he snaps back within one second "so what does he say?" 10 quarts of prestonenomake that quaker state the other scene that absolutely kills me is with the guy with the shotgun after he's rambling about don corleone and moe green being out of the tropicana the guy goes "what did you want under the bed""i didn't want to have to do this, but i'll have to pull rank on ya im with the matress police, there are no tags on these mattresses" the look on the guys face trying to comprehend what the hell he just said might be the funniest moment in movie history aboslutely kills me every time i see it"landlord asked me to watch out for the place" "well i commend him on his choice"this movie is tremendouswhat are other people's favorite scenes?

"the mock laugh Fletch(or gordon liddie) gives there is absolutely priceless"
as is the look on his face when he heads to the front of the plane, not having a clue where the fencer valve is. I love it when he finds the luggage instead, and the mechanic is like "Er, Gord?! Back here"
I would say this was the funniest scene - if there weren't so many others! The doctor's office, EVERY scene with Frank ("well, there we're in a kinda grey area"), the scene with his wife's attorney, the hotel convention, the car chase - don't make me have to choose just one!!
It's great that they brought back the Gordon Liddy disguise for Fletch Lives, too. -

Yeah, my favorite scene is in the airplane hangar as "Gordon Liddy". My favorite lines are "A manure spreader jacknifed on the Santa Ana, god-awful mess, you should see my shoes." and "It's all ball bearings nowadays!" Like every great comedic actor it's not what they say it's how they say it. Chevy is no exception.

Well I used to watch it almost each day around when I was 18. Must have seen it around a 100times. And now after all those years, it came back to my mind and I'm now back into it. Gotta get it on DVD this week.

I love that part when Fletch is the Police Cheif's office and he's up against the wall and goes "Hey, is that a picture of you and Tommy Lasorda?" The Police chief smiles and says "Yea." The Fletch punches the picture and says "I hate Tommy Lasorda"..cracks me up every time

Alan: Do you own a pair of rubber gloves?
Irwin: I rent with an option to buy.
(To ex-wifes's attorney) Here's an extra $10 (?). Go out and get yourself a nice piece of a$$.
I charged it all to Mr. Underhill's American Express card. Want the number?
Mooooooon River.
Carlin: You have the right to have your head bashed in by me.
Irwin: I'll waive my rights.
