I'm actually surprised nobody mentioned the final fight scene while they were still on the horses, I thought it was an amazing scene with the horses.

Ah, Leo McKern. May he rest in peace. I am forever saddened that he died before he could play Alastor Moody in Harry Potter.

YES!!!!! McKern adds gravitas to this film, anchors it. He and Broderick are perfectly matched. Love love their last scene in the movie where Broderick tells Imperious he plans on making it into heaven even if he has to pick the lock! I split my sides laughing Long live Rumpole of the Bailey!!!

When Isabeau drops her jesses in the Bishop's lap. Her expression is so intent, and so full of condemnation and righteousness that he cannot even look her in the face. As the jesses land in his lap he flinches his face away. I love this scene, to me it is the real climax of the story.

              (on the tower)
Soldier: Where is she? Where is the woman?
              Phillipe: She flew away.
Soldier: Where is she? (raises sword)
Phillipe: In God's truth she flew away!
(Navare shoots the soldier with an arrow from the ground)
Phillipe: It always pays to tell the truth, Lord. Thank you. I see that now.

I really enjoyed this movie. The most memorable scene to me is when the hawk is flying over a lake, and the tips of its wings barely touch the water on each flap. Oh, and RUTGER HAUER!!!!!

I agree about the scene with the hawk pippinmaniac! So many good scenes have been mentioned here, and I agree that all of them are excellent moments.
The scene as the hawk flys over the lake is absolutely breathtaking. I well up every time, and I couldn't begin to count how many times I've seen this movie. The music in that scene is the best in the whole movie as well.
Did you know wolves and hawks mate for life? The Bishop didn't even leave us that. Not even that.

I thought that was one of the best scenes I've ever seen in ANY movie.

I love all of those scenes mentioned. I don't think that I have a favorite part, it's just my favorite movie. I do well up every time at the sunrise/sunset part where they almost touch in the ditch. One of my favorite lines by her is in my signature too.
Phillipe: Are you flesh, or are you spirit?
                      Isabeau: I am sorrow.

I love all these scenes (and the 'I am Sorrow' line is wonderful.) I really love the opening credits too.
But I think I agree with the original poster. One of my favourites is the 'almost touching' scene. Although whenever I watch it, I then have to watch them get reunited at the end!
So I think the 'almost touching' and the 'reuniting' scenes, jointly.

i just have to agree with you all .. the cast is great, the plot is fabulous coz it has everything a medival lovestory should, and the music is just enough to make you cry in itself .. i have watched this movie more than a hundred times since i first rented it back when i was a kiddo and i think i can pretty much recite it by heart by now .. as so many of you said, there are so many scenes and sayings in it, its hard to pick just one thats your favorite but if i had to choose it would be the sunrise scene, and the following scene where navarre sees the clawmarks on phillipes chest and imperius glares at him and says " that happened last night when he saved your life " .. that gives me chills ..

I agree with Mmmavis. When she grips the jesses, the expression on her face is so intense, and the eerie music in the background is powerful as she disdainfully drops them in his lap. His power over her has come to an end, and she has such a cold hatred for him. My fav part.

Without a doubt, the best part is the sunrise moment when the two of them see each other in the flesh and try to touch. The music there is incredible (and not on the soundtrack, dammit), and Navarre's scream is heartbreaking.
The hawk flying in slow motion across the water, with its wing tips just barely skimming the water's surface, is a gorgeous shot.
When Isabeau falls off the tower and transforms - I think her scream morphing into the hawk's cry is outstanding.
Navarre praying alone in the meadow. ("Please.")

Screws fall out all the time, the world is an imperfect place.

I think my favorite part in a lot of ways is when Mouse is talking to Navarre about the strange "dream" he had last night. We see that Navarre isn't all that interested until Mouse mentions that Isabelle spoke. Some of my favorite lines are in the scene "I've waited a long time for such a lady." and his statement that he believes in dreams. Rutger says it in a fairly calm voice but he's a good enough actor that you can see the longing in him. I just like a scene where the acting is subtle and they don't have to hit you in the face with it.
"Go away or I'll call the brute squad!"
