That's pretty much it. The music was wrong for this period fantasy piece and it hasn't gotten any better. I love Rutger Hauer in this romantic handsome leading man role and would love to watch it again but I am afraid the music will ruin it for me. Please fix the music!!!!

      No.
Why is it whenever someone says "with all due respect", they really mean "kiss my ass"?

I'd love to see a rescored version of this movie. Great movie, with great sections of score. Unfortunatley the more dated electronic segments do nothing for the movie except keep it from being as timeless as it deserves to be.

Some of the synth stuff sounds like a 1980's porno.

hey..this was a great movie..i still almost tear up when they almost touch at sunrisesighhh. i was always wondering why Isabeau had her hair cut so short tho..and what her background was. all they tell us is that she is the daughter of a duke. hmm. wonder if the novel is a bit more descriptive. anyone know where i could view the novel online or buy it? thanks.

She has short hair because it's symbolic of how she's a hawk by day. Hawks don't have flowing manes.

It's the one thing that puts me off this movie, terrible terrible score even for the time.

The score is exactly why I haven't rewatched this movie in a long time. That music just destroys it. And it's such a great movie. Why they ruined it with horrible music is beyond me. If this had a good score, the movie would be a nine or a ten.

Absolutely. This movie could have been great but I thought the soundtrack killed it. Rock music in a medieval movie? Distracting and stupid.

I agree. The synth sound dates the score severely. Maybe an option on a future DVD release to pick the original score or one with a classical orchestra?

All in favor of a new score for this movie. The music by itself isn't bad, or with a different movie, but when you pair it with this movie it makes absolutely no sense.

Agreed - almost all of the music is AWFUL. It completely takes you out of the moment.

I suggested a remake, and for the score I believe the correct choice would be:
                                    Blackmore's Night.

Blackmore's Night is just as modern as synth pop. The so-called medieval music that exists today is a contemporary invention. With the exception of religious hymns that have survived in form of early musical notation, nobody knows what actual medieval music sounded like.
