I'm not saying there are fewer of you, of course. I'm saying that rescoring it would not impact you in any way whatsoever, and would be much more enjoyable to all the rest of us.

YES! I came here to start a thread like this. I remember people complaining at the music when it came back in the 80's. It was bad and inappropriate. Now it's bad, inappropriate AND dated. It is really distracting from an otherwise wonderful movie.

Another vote for a new score.
Ladyhawke
is a very good movie, but the 80's synth moments are horrible and were a huge mistake. There are moments when a real score is backing the scenes and it sounds wonderful, but then the electronic music comes in and ruins the atmosphere.
I'm not a fan of revisionist cinema (ahem
Star Wars
), but this film desperately needs a musical makeover. -

For those who say the synth music in this movie fits perfectly and wonder why people insist that only sweeping orchestral scores are appropriate for medieval/fantasy movies:
Synthesizers, keyboards, drum kits, and electric guitars/basses did not exist in the time period in which these kinds of stories are set.
In a period piece like this, even one that is clearly fantasy (but still mirrors the medieval period), hearing musical instruments that flat out did not exist in that time period completely pulls you out of the story and the ambiance. In the Middle Ages, people had woodwinds, bowed string instruments (precursors to modern violins, cellos, etc.), lutes, lyres, and so on, so when you hear those (or their modern equivalents) in a medieval/fantasy movie, even if they're not being played by someone on-camera, it still feels authentic or at least more authentic than electronic instruments that won't even be invented for another 900 years or so. -

Yes, if only we can get a RESCORING of the movie. And for those idiots who don't know what it means, it does NOT mean its a remake! Only the musical score will change, nothing else.
I would love to see Ladyhawke rescored and re-released, its such a brilliant movie. -

Every so often I will see a review or discussion of Ladyhawke, and after all the adjectives of "beautiful, romantic, timeless, etc", invariably comes the big
"but"
, as in
"but
the soundtrack"
I agree with every review that calls this movie a romantic classic, and every review that says the soundtrack sucks.
I can only imagine what Ladyhawke would be if it were re-scored with a fitting soundtrack done by someone like the late, great, most romantic film composer ever, John Barry. Omg, Ladyhawke would be up there with Gone With The Wind, Shakespeare In Love, Somewhere In Time, The Way We Were, The Notebook, and all the other outstanding romantic films in my list of All-Time Greatest Romantic Movies Ever Made.

Count me in as another who absolutely hated the music in this film. It's a fantastic picture, but the electronic music completely ruins it for me; pulls me out of the time period and reminds me of the 80's (and I didn't think it was good music even for that time!). ArrrghI really, really dislike the music in this.

I actually think the sheet music is fine - they just need an orchestra. I think they could use the same songs and it would be fine. There are snippets from the soundtrack that are really quite lovely, like the music when the hawk is flying over the lake and when Navarre and Isabeau almost touch and the end credits.

How many years later and this is still an issue, lol. Honestly, it's a love it or hate it thing. I happen to love the score, it makes this movie unique.
"'Why not?' Michael said. 'Why won't there ever be an Italian president, Fredo?'"
