What do you think happened to Short Round?

Indiana Jones doesn't have an extensive "expanded universe". Certainly on the scope and scale of
Star Wars
. Looking at Short Round's Wikia, there's not really much concrete to go on.
My own take has always ben that Indy found Short Round an adoptive family soon after the events of
TOD
. He went to school, perhaps following in Indy's footsteps in archeology and likely signed up to fight in WWII. I'd love to see them bring him back in some capacity as a grown man in
Indy 5

Perhaps in the next film, we'll see Indy looking him up in order to obtain an important artefact.
Short Round: "I learned to hate you in the last 30 years!"
Indiana Jones: "I never meant to hurt you."
Short Round: "I was a child, I was in love. It was wrong and you knew it!"
Indiana Jones: "You knew what you were doing."

Decades after the events of TOD he discovered this little creature called a Mogwai, which he then took back with him to the big city where he opened up an antique shop (some of the artifacts he sold came from Short Round's adventures with Indy) that is operated by him and his grandson.
